Impulsive Vow to an Enigmatic Husband novel Chapter 996

While they were talking, Cornelia's phone started to buzz. The caller ID showed an unknown number.

Since it was her work phone, getting calls from unknown numbers was a common thing. Thinking it was a client, she picked up the call and politely said, "Hello!"

The voice on the other end was Clair's, "Nelly, it's me, your mother! I bought loads of presents to visit you and your sister, but the security won't let me in. Which building do you live in?"

Hearing this voice made Cornelia want to hurl, "Don't call yourself my mother, I don't have a mother like you."

Cornelia's disgust and rejection didn't faze Clair, "I think there's a big misunderstanding between us. We should sit down and hash it out."

Cornelia retorted, "Buzz off!"

Clair responded, "My blood runs through your veins. You're my flesh and blood. Can you deny that?"

With every word Clair said, Cornelia felt more nauseous. She abruptly hung up the call and blocked the number. Just as Cornelia hung up, Tahlia's phone started to ring.

Seeing the caller ID, Tahlia's expression instantly changed, "Cornelia..."

Cornelia took Tahlia's phone, intending to hang up and block the number as well. But then she had a thought, if Clair was so keen on buttering them up, why not use her to their advantage. So, she answered the call, "If you want to meet us, bring Tahlia's property deeds and unfreeze her bank cards."

Clair replied, "That's no big deal, sure thing. So can you tell me which building you live in now?"
