Stellan’s voice came through, sounding weary. "Am I expecting anyone today?"
A flicker of hesitation crossed the receptionist’s face before she steeled herself and continued, "He claims to be James Cunningham, father-in-law of Matthew, the Summit Warden."
There was a long pause on the other end of the phone, making her uneasy. She knew she was already bending the protocols of Martial League.
"Have President Cunningham come up to my office directly," his firm voice finally responded, bringing a sense of relief to her.
After ending the call, she gestured toward the nearby elevator. "Mr. Cunningham, take the elevator to the fourth floor. Mr. Warrington's office is on your right."
After thanking her, James quickly entered the elevator and pressed the button for the fourth floor. Once the doors slid open, he hurried out and made his way into the office on the right.
Stellan was seated at his desk, wiping his face with a towel in an attempt to shake off his exhaustion. When he saw James enter, he gave a short smile, saying, "President Cunningham, what brings you here today?"
He had intended to take the day off and avoid any meetings, hoping to take a much-needed rest. However, considering James was Matthew’s father-in-law, there was a chance something pressing had come up.
James glanced at Stellan, his expression showing clear concern. Stellan heard him ask, "Mr. Warrington, are you able to reach Matthew right now?"
...
At Dewsbury, once Matthew came back to the hotel from the Martial Arts Academy, he checked his pocket, only to notice that his phone was gone.
