Man With Super Medical Skill novel Chapter 3447

"Safe journey back, Chief Falkrenn. It's awfully dark—don't trip and fall now," Matthew said, giving Casimir a friendly pat on the shoulder.

"Of course, of course," Casimir chuckled awkwardly, quickly turning away and making his retreat. Once he reached the cover of the distant trees, his face twisted into a scowl.

"Boss, are we heading back now?" one of the Emberhold Syndicate members asked Casimir quietly.

"What do you think? Are you itching to start a fight with them?" After a quick assessment, Casimir had noticed that the Veiled Assembly had suffered minimal damage, and their morale was riding high. Starting trouble now would be like asking for a beating in a dark alley. "Let's head back. We'll deal with this another time."

Casimir's only thought was to retreat and regroup. Deadeye's fall, along with the Devil Guild's exposed connection to the Medusa Gang, had been an embarrassment too large to ignore. He'd be sure to capitalize on the power vacuum the Devil Guild's collapse had left behind, no matter the cost.

Watching Casimir's retreating figure, Mack turned to Matthew. "Are we really just letting him walk away?"

"Even if we tried to hold them here, it'd be costly," Matthew replied. "He has plenty of backup hidden in those trees. Our men aren't in shape to start a fresh fight."

Mack nodded in agreement and turned back to his crew, shouting, "Alright, don't just stand there! Back to work!"

Immediately, the Veiled Assembly members resumed escorting their captives while Matthew and Mack got to work organizing the labor.

Meanwhile, back at the western dock's Devil Guild…

"Useless!" The emissary slammed his fist on the table.

Deadeye's death was one thing, but dragging the Medusa Gang's involvement out into the open had set the entire island buzzing. The Devil Guild's link to the Medusa Gang was now public knowledge, shattering the aura of mystery and fear that had long kept enemies at bay. Though people still feared the Medusa Gang, the loss of secrecy left a vulnerability. Any group that thought they could take on the Medusa Gang would now be all too eager to test their strength.

The emissary, clad in a dark green cloak and wearing a Gorgon mask, sat deep in thought, his expression twisted with anger beneath the mask.

If he waited for word to reach the higher-ups, his position as emissary would be in jeopardy—or worse—stripped from him entirely. Without that title's protection, his enemies would waste no time tearing him apart.

Right. The best course of action is to wipe out that dock and offer up the lives of everyone there as atonement to the organization. That might buy me some time. But with no men left to command, he had no choice but to seek an ally.

At that, his gaze turned eastward, eyes glinting with malice beneath the mask.

After tonight's events, would Casimir Falkrenn really be able to sleep soundly?
