Chapter 212 Shocking News
"Alright!"
After changing his clothes, Remington informed Rupert and then left the martial arts hall with Cecelia.
When they arrived at the mangrove forest in the southern suburbs and got off the car, they saw police vehicles parked by the forest.
Yellow caution tapes had been set up on that side of the forest, with two police officers standing guard outside.
Cecelia and Remington greeted the police officers and were led into the mangrove forest.
In the depths of the forest, Roger and several other team members were all there, with two of them digging.
A large pit had already been dug on the ground, and the two police officers carefully shoveled the soil, revealing a skeleton in the middle of the pit.
"Captain Shawn!"
Cecelia called out.
Roger turned around and saw them approaching. He said, "You came just in time. We have cleared the soil and found a skeleton. Now we're waiting for the forensic examiner to come and examine it!"
Cecelia and Remington exchanged glances, both feeling a bit shocked as they looked at the skeleton in the pit.
Was this skeleton the person killed by Samuel three years ago?
And was their son, Andres, afflicted with aphasia because he witnessed this person being killed?
After circling around and observing, Remington returned to Roger's side and discussed with him. "Captain Shawn, can we not release the news about the skeleton for now?"
"We can do that. We can start by filing a case. However, can you explain the situation more clearly? We need more clues to solve the case!"
Roger trusted their character and brought police dogs here for a search based solely on their speculation.
Now that they had indeed found a skeleton, he wanted to figure out how they knew there was a skeleton here in the first place.
Where did they obtain the clues?
"Alright! Captain Shawn, come with me. I'll talk to you alone!"
Remington called Roger aside and told him about how they obtained the clues and suspected it to be a murder case.
Roger was shocked after listening. "Are you saying you suspect your uncle?"
"Yes, this matter is extremely complicated, so I hope you can keep the case confidential for now. Currently, we need to focus on investigating the identity of the deceased. Only by figuring out his identity can we possibly determine the cause of his death."
"Alright, I understand! Let's keep in touch at all times!"
Cecelia was watching them dig. The forensic examiner Kody arrived at the scene in a few minutes and conducted a preliminary examination of the skeleton.
After examining the bones of the deceased, Kody said, "The deceased is an adult male, and it is preliminarily determined that he died of blunt force. His skull is clearly ruptured and sunken, which is a fatal wound."
After examining the skeleton, Kody requested, "Try to bring the complete skeleton back to the lab. I need to further analyze it. Did you find any other items?"
A team member took out a transparent sealed bag containing the evidence. "Yes! They found a metal lighter and a pen next to the skeleton."
The bag was right in front of him, and Remington immediately noticed the style of the pen. He took it and looked at it repeatedly, becoming more and more shocked.
Cecelia asked, "Do you recognize this pen?"
"This..." Remington looked up at her, his eyes full of astonishment. "This is my father's... I saw it when I was a child..."
He then looked at the other piece of evidence, the lighter, which he had never seen before. However, this pen looked very similar to the one his father used to sign documents back then.
When he was a child, he often saw his father carrying the pen. Could it be...
Looking back at the pit on the ground, Remington's eyes became red, and he was somewhat excited. Could it be that this skeleton was his father?
Cecelia patted his shoulder and comforted him. "Maybe it's just a coincidence and the pen looks the same!"
Remington didn't speak.
He felt like there was a weight in his chest, which was oppressive and heavy.
