Chapter 311 A Precious Reunion
Cecelia and Remington helped Samuel into the car, and then the Nelson family's convoy left the airport.
During the ride, Samuel looked at the ever-changing development of Center City, feeling a mix of emotions.
"I remember this area was undeveloped back then. Now it is filled with skyscrapers."
"Yes, Dad. Center City has developed quickly in these years, and the city has become more beautiful."
Samuel nodded, but then sighed, "Alas. It's too bad that I feel I'm out-of-date."
After eighteen years apart, it felt like everything had changed.
In fact, he was the biggest change himself. And he was completely out of touch with the current age and unable to keep up with the progress.
There were many new things he didn't understand, and he felt lost and fearful about the future.
Remington held his father's hand and comforted him, "No, Dad, you can start over from scratch. It's not too late."
They chatted all the way until the convoy reached the gates of the Nelson Residence. Samuel looked at the familiar entrance and couldn't help but tear up.
The vehicles drove around the perimeter and stopped near the fountain outside the main mansion.
Cecelia and the children got out of the car first, and the kids happily ran towards the front door of the villa.
"Grandma! Great-Grandma! Grandpa is back!"
The children joyfully rushed over to deliver the news, and the Nelson family members had already come out, standing at the doorstep, waiting.
Remington helped his father down from the car, and Samuel looked up and noticed his mother standing at the front at first glance.
Her hair was black eighteen years ago, but now her hair had turned gray.
Looking at his mother's gray hair, he had a sense of sadness and heartache overflowed from the depths of his heart. He could only try his best to restrain his emotions.
He also saw his wife, Aurora Snow, standing beside his mother. After eighteen years apart, it looked like she had changed a lot.
He had already heard about his wife's experiences from his son. Seeing Aurora again, Samuel felt overwhelming guilt towards her.
If it wasn't for him, she wouldn't have suffered unjustly.
Looking at the familiar yet somewhat unfamiliar faces, Samuel felt a bit sad and suffocated.
As he approached and looked at them with teary eyes, his family just looked at him with tearful glances. No one spoke, but everyone's tears were streaming down their faces.
"Mom... Aurora..." Samuel cried, calling out to them with a trembling voice. He couldn't hold back his emotions any longer.
"Samuel... Samuel..."
Looking at her eldest son, who had returned safe and sound, yet had become so skinny and aged, Gabriella Nelson just felt her heart ached so much.
"Mom, I'm back..." Samuel walked up and kneeled down in front of his mother.
"Oh, my son..." Gabriella tightly held her son in her arms. They both cried with tears flowing down their faces.
This scene moved everyone present. Aurora couldn't stop crying, and Bill, Anderson and Maria couldn't help but shed tears.
Remington's eyes were red, and Cecelia was also moved to tears.
Even the domestic workers of the Nelson family around them were in tears.
After a while of crying, Gabriella and Samuel finally let go of each other and looked into each other's eyes in tears.
"Samuel, I'm so happy that I can see you once again before I die. I will die in peace..."
"Mom..."
"You've lost weight..." Gabriella held Samuel's face, feeling heartbroken with each glance.
"Mom, you look the same."
Samuel was equally heartbroken by the wrinkles on his mother's face and her gray hair. He felt so sad seeing his mother getting so aged.
After eighteen years of separation, they all knew the preciousness of this reunion.
