Chapter 385 Jesper Restored the Facts of the Past
The stubborn old man was finally moved, which meant Cecelia's great effort did not end up in vain.
"Okay, explain it step by step, Jesper."
Cecelia nodded, getting ready to hear the truth.
"When I met your grandmother, she was just a teenage girl. She was Madam Jessie Songo's child, but she was only born after her father died. Her father was Vernon Dawn, who married into the Songo family.
"Madam was kind, and so was Miss Cassie. Otherwise, when I was about to freeze to death, she wouldn't have insisted on picking me up from the snowy ground and bringing me home.
"Since then, I've been the Songo family's servant."
Jesper was lost in his memory. All those past scenes in his mind were gradually getting clear.
As he recounted the past, Cecelia's feelings and impressions of the previous Songo family changed.
"As time went by, I learned many secrets or dirty dealings of the family that outsiders had no chance to know.
"Only then did I learn that Madam had borne humiliation for years to protect the foundation of the Songo family and Miss Cassie.
Jesper stopped and didn't continue. Cecelia asked, "Jesper, what really is the humiliation my great-grandmother had borne?"
She wanted to find out if Jesper's story matched Master Lennox's.
"Your current great-uncle Alfred's father Jackson was not Madam's blood brother. He was just Master Edmond's adopted son.
"But he was venomous and greedy. After learning that Master wanted to hand over the Songo Dyehouse to his daughter and son-in-law, he harbored a murderous intention.
"He not only killed Master Edmond but also poisoned Vernon and took Madam as his woman..."
When it came to this, Jesper's lips and hands trembled. "It's said that Madam wanted to commit suicide after her father and husband died, but she found she was pregnant. She thought that if she died and the evil guy got the Songo family, the family's murder case would be forgotten, and its centennial legacy would be gone in a day."
"Then, for the sake of the unborn child and to guard the Songo family, she could only bear the humiliation and keep living. Only when Miss Cassie had grown up and taken over the Songo Dyehouse did she die in sorrow.
"When she was dying, I was also present. She told Miss Cassia the inside story and asked her to leave the Songo family and Porema with The Collection of Fragrant Clothes, saying she shall never return until she had enough strength to defeat the devil."
Jesper's story perfectly matched Master Lennox's, proving that such a tragedy had indeed happened to the Songo family.
It also proved that Jackson's descendants, including Alfred and all the other Songos, were not the real blood of the Songo family.
Cecelia asked, "So, the day my great-grandmother died, my grandmother left Porema with The Collection of Fragrant Clothes?"
"No! Miss Cassie failed to leave. Jackson had long been prepared. He arranged for men to control the Songo family, forbidding her to leave the house.
"Miss Cassie could only stay to take care of Madam's funeral. She was so grieved, but Jackson attempted to harass her in the name of comforting her. As a result, he was injured by her.
"With a strong will to take revenge, Jackson wrongly accused her of luring him. Even during Madam's mourning period, he got her engaged, trying to build relations with her marriage.
"In the evening before her wedding, Jackson came to West Garden to visit her. He had been coveting her beauty, not wishing another man to deflower her.
"He tried to assault her, hoping to defile her. But Miss Cassie firmly refused to submit and killed him with scissors."
Jesper's anger boiled over as he recalled the past. He clenched his fists tightly as if he was going to fight for justice for Cassie.
"Jackson was killed by my grandmother? So, the rumors that my grandmother ran away with him are pure nonsense, right?"
Cecelia was shocked. The more she learned about it, the more she found Jackson was truly evil and dirty.
He was a beast and hypocrite indeed!
