Chapter 407 The Consequences of Their Sins
"I'm afraid Grandma Anisa might do something extreme!"
"How could that be? My mother is very strong!"
Benson believed that his mother was the strongest woman in the world; otherwise, she wouldn't have supported herself until now.
Now that Carol had passed away, she was the matriarch of the Songo family, with a bright future ahead. Why would she ever do anything extreme?
But women knew women the best, and Cecelia understood Anisa's personality too well. Anisa was a woman who would rather die than take humiliation, and the same woman who had endured for so long just for the sake of vengeance.
With her deep-seated grudge finally avenged, she might not want to live any longer because life had become too painful for her.
Hastily, they rushed back to the Songo Residence, returning to West Garden where Anisa resided. Benson pushed open the door in a hurry. "Mother..."
Upon entering, he was shocked by the scene before him.
Anisa was sitting in a wheelchair, one arm hanging down, her head tilted to one side, her eyes closed as if she were peacefully sleeping.
However, seeing the medicine bottle lying on the floor, it was clear that she had taken an overdose of medication and ended her life.
"Mother! No, Mother, don't..."
Benson knelt in front of his mother, holding her shoulders, but he couldn't wake her up no matter how hard he tried.
The sight was heart-wrenching, and Snow couldn't help but become teary-eyed. Cecelia entered the room and checked Anisa's breathing. She then picked up the bottle from the floor and sighed after examining it.
"Ah, Anisa had likely planned this long ago. She waited for Carol to die so that she could leave peacefully."
"Mother, please don't leave me..."
Benson was in tears, and he had been the most filial son to his mother, enduring everything for her sake, because they meant the world to each other.
Now that they had finally completed their vengeance, his mother chose to leave him, and that was immensely painful.
The separation of life and death was the most difficult to accept. Even Cecelia felt distressed, offering her support to Benson as the Songo family's staff were informed to call Alfred.
Porema Hospital.
Members from various branches of the Songo family gathered in the hospital ward to mourn Carol. Chris and Dana, along with Mariah, wept for their mother and also grieved for what happened to Warda and Mizey.
Mariah was more concerned about herself, given her husband's imprisonment. She wondered how she would continue her life.
Edwin could only do something to comfort his uncle and aunt since Carol had passed away.
Fiona stood outside the room, her gaze cold and indifferent.
She felt no grief as she saw Carol's passing as a form of retribution.
The main branch of the family had experienced a series of misfortunes, and this was the consequence of their past actions.
Alfred couldn't be seen showing much grief, but his silence concealed the weight of his emotions. His sons started discussing the funeral of the old lady.
At that moment, a servant rushed in, delivering distressing news. "Master! Master! Something terrible has happened!"
"What now?" Alfred was taken aback and not pleased with more bad news.
"Madam Anisa... She is gone!"
"What? Where did she go?" Alfred asked urgently.
"She didn't go to any place; she took an overdose of medication!"
"Ah?"
This news was another blow to Alfred, and he staggered a few steps, nearly collapsing.
"Grandpa, are you alright?" Edwin supported him.
"Hurry, let's go back to the residence..."
Alfred gave orders to return to the residence as soon as possible, while his sons should take care of Carol.
Back in the West Garden of the Songo Residence, Alfred saw Anisa lying lifeless and finally confirmed her tragic end.
"Ah, Anisa..."
Losing two wives within a day had taken a toll on Alfred. He was beginning to feel the pain of old age and sorrow.
With the passing of both madames within a day, the entire Songo family was overshadowed by a heavy veil of grief. This extraordinary tragedy began to spread, leaving the whole city in shock.
