Married by Accident, Taming the Billionaire novel Chapter 488

Chapter 488 Finding Crucial Clues

Cecelia took the kraft paper bag and pulled out some documents from it. The papers were slightly discolored, indicating that they were old documents.

"What are these?"

With curiosity in her eyes, Cecelia turned the documents over to read the contents carefully.

The documents contained a private agreement. The cooperation mentioned in the agreement was about how to distribute the Done family's assets.

"This content... is actually related to my grandfather, Allen..."

As she read further, Cecelia was increasingly shocked. "The signatory of this agreement is..."

Remington glanced at the end of the document and exclaimed, "Jaxon!"

Cecelia and Remington exchanged a look, both incredibly surprised.

Benson said, "When I found this document and saw the name of Cecelia's grandfather, I thought this agreement might have something to do with the past affairs of the Done family, so I brought it to show you."

"It indeed is related! It's hugely relevant!"

Cecelia analyzed with a frown, "It seems that the accident in my grandfather's family is related to Master Songo and Jaxon. Canes Mansion was sold through Jaxon.

"The case of the Done family being wiped out must have something to do with Jaxon!"

Benson nodded in agreement. "Unfortunately, my father never revealed the truth about the Done family before he died. Now that he has passed away, it might be difficult to investigate."

Remington answered, "The only possibility is to find Jaxon to unravel the truth about the Done family's case."

"That's right! Jaxon is the key!"

Cecelia thought back to the time she lived in the Songo family and recalled the last words of Alfred before his death. She suddenly had an epiphany. "I got it!"

"What did you think of?" Remington asked.

"I remember the night when the old Songo house caught fire, and Master Songo was assassinated. He said Johnson's name and a word before he died."

"Yeah, we don't know if it was 'he' or 'do'," Remington said.

"No, no, no, now it seems that he definitely wasn't saying 'he' or 'do'. I guess he was very likely saying 'Done', the Done family. He must have wanted to tell me something about the Done family!"

"Now that you mention it, it seems possible. As the saying goes, 'A dying man's words are good'. After Master Songo was killed by Johnson, he saw you and might have wanted to tell you the truth before he died, but he didn't have the chance."

Remington analyzed the situation. The more Cecelia thought about it, the more plausible it seemed. She continued to speculate, "Why did Johnson want to kill Master Songo? What was his motive?"

Benson followed up, "The police in Cloud City haven't found Johnson yet, so we don't know his motive for the murder."

"Alright, since we don't know, let me make a bold assumption!"

Cecelia's mind was fully opened. She sorted out all the events and came up with a theory.

"The fire that night was clearly set by Johnson after he killed Master Songo. He wanted to burn the crime scene and destroy Master Songo's body!"

Both men nodded in agreement after hearing that.

Cecelia stood up, paced around the room, and then turned and said, "Johnson was the Songo family's housekeeper and had been there for so long. If he wanted to kill Master Songo, he could have done it at any time and didn't need to wait until then.

"The only possible reason for him to commit murder is that my arrival at the Songo family disrupted their balance and threatened their interests.
