"Nothing. I'm just too happy." Jack waved his hand and smiled. The smile on his face reached his deep-set black eyes. He was so happy that he almost cried.
Rachel frowned. She couldn't help thinking inwardly, 'Is he happy that I've gotten so many pregnancy stretch marks?' All the while, she was worried that he would dislike her if he found out that her belly had become so ugly. She didn't expect that he would just say he was so happy.
She tried to figure out the possible reason for him to feel happy about the stretch marks, but she couldn't, so she gave up.
The next day, Rachel and Lea had afternoon tea. Rachel casually talked about Jack's reaction about her stretch marks. "It was my first time to see a man laughing when he saw pregnancy stretch marks. He wasn't disappointed at all."
While stirring her coffee, Lea commented, "Maybe it made him feel that you are really pregnant."
"I don't know. Actually, I was afraid that he would find out, so I hid them from him. I even stayed in the bathroom for a long time every day to secretly apply anti-stretch mark cream on my belly." Thinking of what she had done before, Rachel couldn't help laughing at herself.
At the hospital, she heard a lot of nurses complaining about their pregnancy stretch marks before. Since she wasn't pregnant yet at that time, she felt it wasn't really a big deal.
But now that it also happened to her, she realized that it was indeed a serious problem for women. More serious than she had imagined.
After all, no woman would want any parts of their body to look scary.
Lea took a sip of her coffee and suddenly put down the cup clumsily, causing it to spill on the table.
Although surprised, Rachel handed her some tissue and said, "What's wrong? You scared me.
"I just remembered something." The corner of Lea's mouth twitched. "Last night, I stayed a bit longer in the bathroom, and I caught Henry secretly peeping through the door. He pretended it was nothing, but I still asked him. Do you know what he said?"
Rachel blinked a few times while staring at Lea. She waited for her to continue.
"His answer was actually funny. He said that he wondered if I deliberately hid in the bathroom for a long time to send messages to another man secretly, so he checked on me. Unfortunately, I caught him." Rachel smiled helplessly. She couldn't help wondering the reason why Jack had done the same thing. No wonder he had been so happy when he found out the truth.
Rachel and Lea chatted for a while before they said their goodbyes and parted ways.
When Rachel arrived home, she found out that Jack was in the baby's room. He was doing something while humming a happy tune. Ever since they'd reconciled, Jack developed a new habit of going to different baby stores to buy all kinds of toys and baby stuff. He would then arrange them inside the baby's room.
Rachel found it crazy, so she tried to stop him. However, he didn't listen to her.
Jack was carefully putting a doll on the windowsill when Rachel entered the room. She slowly walked to him and hugged him tightly from behind. "Jack, don't worry. Even if I want to send messages to someone else, I won't hide in the bathroom. It's not comfortable there at all."
"What messages? I don't understand," Jack stammered as his face changed.
Rachel chuckled but didn't answer. Actually, she was amused by his reaction. She found him cute.
Two days had already passed Rachel's expected date of delivery, but she didn't feel any labor pains yet. As a doctor, she didn't panic. She knew that this kind of situation was usual.
Some women gave birth ahead of their due dates while some were late. As long as the delay didn't take more than two weeks, it wasn't a problem at all.
But Jack had always been panicky. Every morning he woke up, he asked, "Honey, do you feel any pain?"
Before going to bed in the evening, he always reminded her worriedly, "Honey, if you feel uncomfortable, tell me immediately. If I can't wake up, pinch me hard."
Every time, Rachel would only smile and say, "Okay."
Tonight, Jack said to her, "What's wrong with our baby? Why it's not coming out yet?"
"Maybe it feels too comfortable to stay in my belly," Rachel replied. She then turned off the bedside lamp and said, "Let's sleep."
Rachel had actually stayed in the hospital a week ago to prepare for her delivery. But unexpectedly, she didn't show any signs of giving birth.
She stayed in a VIP ward, so she always felt bored. Feeling uncomfortable, she requested to go home.
At first, Jack and Jonathan didn't agree. But since she insisted, they had no choice but eventually gave in.
Tracy, who was also a little worried, just poked her forehead and said, "You've never been like this before. Why are you becoming more and more capricious now?"
Rachel also didn't know. Maybe her pregnancy had really caused so many changes in her attitude.
Jack looked at her worriedly before he lay down.
