Chapter 457 Enormous Harm
It had taken only one second for Abbot to change from a narcissist to an autistic man. It was too shameful, so his face against the phone screen began burning. He knew that Rebecca couldn't see him, but he still felt ashamed.
It was too embarrassing! He even thought he had brought disgrace to the Carter family!
After he finished speaking, Rebecca hurriedly flattered, "Mr. Carter, you're indeed a person who does great things. You're broad-minded!"
Abbot felt his chest was in knots, so he was unable to laugh but just said, "Go to bed early."
Then, he moved the phone away from his ear and hung up with a gloomy face.
Compared with him, Rebecca was much more cheerful. She was smiling happily because of the alcohol, lay down on the bed with the quilt in her arms, and soon fell asleep.
Except for Colin and Faye, none of them went downstairs for breakfast the next morning.
Faye had no appetite because it was too early, so she had just ordered a bowl of porridge.
Colin was sitting across from her. Seeing her absent-mindedly stirring the porridge with a spoon, he laughed in a deep voice and said, "Honey."
Faye looked up and asked, "Yes?"
He asked, "What's on your mind?"
She replied truthfully, "I am thinking about my aunt and Uncle Jadon."
Faye knew Carlotta had gone into Jadon's room last night and had not come out yet.
Although Carlotta was an adult and her elder, she was the only person who was related to her by blood now, so Faye could not help worrying about her.
Colin showed a smile on his thin lips and said, "Don't worry. Jadon is a gentleman."
Faye pursed her lips in silence. After a while, she asked in a light voice, "Why haven't Abbot and Rebecca come down yet?"
Colin chuckled, "I'll call Abbot to ask about it."
Then, he took out his phone from his pocket and called Abbot.
After the phone rang for a while, Abbot picked it up slowly and said in a dry voice, "What's up?"
Colin said, "Come downstairs to have breakfast."
Abbot replied, "I'm back in Cocanel now."
Colin raised his eyebrows lightly and asked, "Why?"
Abbot said in an unnatural tone, "There's something wrong with the company."
Colin quipped, "Really?"
Abbot bit the bullet and said, "Really."
Colin and Abbot had been friends for more than ten years, so he knew he was lying now.
He then teased, "When did you leave?"
Abbot replied, "Five o'clock in the morning."
Colin asked, "Is the Carter Group going bankrupt?"
Abbot snapped with a sullen face, "Are you courting a spanking?"
Colin let out a low laugh and said, "What happened? Is it so emergent that you must go back at five in the morning?"
Abbot was hit in the soft underbelly, so he fell silent.
If it were Ethan, Colin would not have asked so many questions because Ethan had a sense of propriety. If he needed help, he would tell Colin. But Abbot was different. Although he usually looked bighearted and mindless, when he got in trouble, he might be too embarrassed to ask for help.
