But this was to be expected. It was just human nature.
Mona had dressed flamboyantly for the book signing event today. But usually, a lot of her clothes were from Amazon.
"Steven's a very patient and gentle person," Mona replied.
Maisy chuckled inwardly at the comment. "Patient and gentle?"
Maybe that was how Steven was with Mona and Skylar, but he could be utterly heartless when it came to her.
"Can you lend me some money? I just arrived in Jipsburg and need cash to rent a place. I didn't want to bother Steven, so can you lend me some tens of thousands of dollars?" Maisy made her request straightforwardly.
Mona looked surprised. "Borrow you money?"
"Yeah, you seem to have plenty. Some tens of thousands of dollars shouldn't be a problem for you, right? I'll pay you back once I start earning," Maisy said casually.
Mona began to feel a little wary. It was unusual for someone to ask for money right off the bat. Moreover, she still wasn't sure if this person was Steven's cousin.
"I don't have any cash on hand and need to check with Steven," Mona replied diplomatically, refusing the request.
Upon hearing this, Maisy leaned back in her chair, a cold smile creeping onto her face. "You were so patient with your fans earlier, even caring about one who was injured and donating to help them. But now, knowing I'm Steven's sister, you'd rather give money to others than to me?"
Well, that changed things. Maisy had initially thought that, if possible, she wouldn't want to be so ruthless. After all, if things escalated, it would be easy for Steven to end up hating her.
But now, it seemed unnecessary. Maisy was determined to show Mona what true darkness looked like.
"That's different. You should just ask Steven for help. I've got things to take care of," Mona said as she stood up, ready to leave.
