With that, Maisy was determined to slip past the three men and make a run for it. She didn't know what they wanted, but she knew she had to get away.
Just as she was about to bolt, the three men stood motionless before her, their imposing presence blocking her path. It felt as though they could see right through her intentions.
"Who are you guys? What do you want?" Maisy gritted her teeth and demanded.
One of them replied, "You need to come with us."
"I'm not Maisy. Why would I go with you?" Even in her confused state, she understood these could have been the people Steven had sent.
He probably wanted to teach her a lesson for what she had done to Mona.
It made no sense to her. Mona was just an outsider. Given Steven's resources, he could find any woman he wanted.
She couldn't understand why Steven was making things difficult for her, his biological sister. Besides, Mona wasn't in any trouble, so there was no reason for them to target her.
"Stop wasting time."
Before she could protest, one of the men grabbed her arm. She struggled but couldn't break free, so she screamed. At that moment, the basement unit was empty.
Everyone else was outside, busy with work and making a living.
She was roughly pulled into a car.
…
A few minutes later, Aiken received a call and dialed Skylar's number.
"I just found Maisy. But besides you, another person has asked me to look for her. It's her classmate's father. She lured her classmate to Askea under the pretense of a vacation, but then she disappeared and hasn't been in touch.
"My sources have told me that Maisy has lured several people there. Those who fell for her schemes either ended up dead or became organ donors, or worse, private slaves for others." Aiken's voice remained calm as he spoke.
