Maisy let out a muffled gasp, spitting out a mouthful of blood as her face twisted in agony from the force of the kick.
Maisy was completely stunned—Steven was actually this ruthless.
As she curled into the chair, pain coursed through every part of her body. It wasn't just where she had been struck; every part of her felt like it had been broken.
"Steven, have you lost your mind? I'm your biological sister. We share the same blood. How could you treat me like this?" Maisy shouted, seething with anger.
She would take the slap and kick as payback for drugging Mona. But she would remember this forever, and neither Steven nor Mona would get off easily.
Her plan to sell Mona had failed this time, but she would ensure she succeeded next time. She was determined to get Mona out of the way.
She just couldn't stand Mona. Just seeing her reminded her of Skylar, and Skylar was just so infuriating.
But when Maisy finished speaking, the person who had hit her still didn't say a word. Instead, he stepped forward and brutally ground his foot down on her face.
"Tell me where you took Mia. After you lured her away, where did you sell her?" the middle-aged man, Rex Bird, demanded angrily.
She was shocked to realize the voice wasn't Steven's. Her captor was someone else entirely. He demanded to know where Mia Bird was—he had to be Mia's father.
Suddenly, Maisy's entire body trembled uncontrollably. "I don't know what you're talking about. I don't know anyone named Mia! You got the wrong person. Let me go, or my family will realize I've been abducted and call the police. You'll regret this." She bluffed, hoping to instill fear.
"Still refusing to admit it? Well, whether you confess or not doesn't matter anymore." Rex was infuriated by Maisy's defiance. He already had the answer in his mind.
