"Your brother and Mona are getting married in a few days. It's okay if Joe can't make it. There will be a lot of your brother's colleagues and Mona's friends coming to the wedding," Janine said.
Many people still didn't know that Joe was her son-in-law. They assumed that Joe and Lizzie were still a couple.
Skylar then said, "Joe and I had discussed this and decided he'd join us for the family meal the next day instead. Given his current situation, he really can't participate in the wedding. I'll explain it to Steven."
"There's no need for that. Steven said as a family, we don't have to worry about such things," Janine said.
"Alright." Skylar nodded.
Half an hour later, Skylar saw that Janine's foot was not as swollen as before and didn't hurt as much too. So, she left, feeling reassured.
Just after Skylar left, Janine received a call from Ted.
"Mr. Read?"
"Janine, I've had some medicine delivered to you. I heard it's very effective. Once you receive it, rub it well on your foot. If it still doesn't feel better, give me a call, and I'll take you to the hospital," Ted said, showing his concern.
"Thank you very much, Mr. Read. I'm already feeling much better," Janine replied, realizing that despite his distant demeanor, Ted was quite considerate.
"Don't take it too lightly. Keep an eye on it. If it still hurts tomorrow morning, you should go to the hospital," Ted advised.
"Alright, but I don't think it's a big issue," Janine said as she glanced down at her foot.
Moving it seemed to have pulled at the injured area as a sudden pain shot through her ankle. It had stopped hurting when Skylar left, but now it was hurting again.
"Oh, and I have a few things I'd like to consult you on, Janine. Once your foot is better, let me treat you to a meal, and we can discuss it in detail," Ted added.
