Skylar's expression flickered briefly before she began to speak calmly, "Mr. Zindel Senior really is Grandma Viola's brother. The negative items he placed were meant to train me. He admitted this himself yesterday at Pearlhall Residence. Besides, Grandma Viola once…"
She explained methodically, without a rush or hesitation. Alexander's face gradually turned to one of shock as he listened. It took him quite some time to process her words.
When he finally found his voice, he had already started to accept Skylar's words. "So, it does make sense. He's always been capable of such things. Kevin only cares about the people he deems worthy of his attention and will pursue whatever he wants without thinking about whether it's reasonable or not.
"Everything he does is driven by his whims. Other people's lives mean nothing to him. But he's deranged. To think he even harbored feelings for his sister."
Just as he finished speaking, something else crossed his mind. "You mentioned he doesn't have long to live, right?"
Skylar nodded. "Yes. His actions went against the natural order, and he's suffering from a backlash. He's now terminally ill. Still, he warned that many negative items remain out there. We need to stay vigilant."
Skylar's feelings about Kevin were complicated. To him, she was like a disciple he had shaped through his twisted trials. He even revealed himself to protect her, not wanting her to lose her life over some supernatural threat.
However, from Skylar's perspective, Kevin's actions were far too reckless and cruel. He treated the fortunes and lives of others as pawns in a game, using them however he pleased.
Faced with someone like him, she didn't know whether to despise him or feel grateful.
Alexander's expression grew more serious. "You're right. Still, that man is unbelievably petty. Back then, we all had our disagreements with him. There were arguments whenever we gathered, but no one bore him any real malice.
"Yet he held a grudge and has used negative items to harm so many people over the years! The more I think about it, the angrier I get. I can't take this. I need to go outside for a walk to cool off. Otherwise, I'll never be able to calm down."
Just as he reached the door, another thought struck him, and he turned back to Skylar.
