Stephen furrowed his brow. Simona had become much harder to fool than before.
Despite everything he had said, she still maintained a rather indifferent demeanor. "We just finalized the location. We're in the process of hiring staff and renovating the office space," he replied.
Simona suddenly noticed that Stephen hadn't made eye contact with her while saying this.
It seemed like Stephen disliked making eye contact. They rarely locked eyes when they spoke.
She wondered how she had never noticed this before. Then it hit her. She had noticed it in the past but had dismissed it, believing his explanation that he was simply shy.
"Can't you take me to see it?" she asked.
Stephen hesitated for a moment before finally meeting Simona's gaze. Their eyes locked.
Simona sensed an inquisitive look in Stephen's eyes. He seemed to be trying to figure out what she was thinking. Her heart skipped a beat when she realized that.
"Of course, I'll let my boss know. I'll take you to see it in the next couple of days, but it might be a bit messy since the renovation is still going on, and there's dust everywhere," Stephen said.
Simona lowered her head, lost in thought, and absentmindedly replied, "I just remembered that my brother asked me to come home for lunch, so I should head back. Let's keep in touch on WhatsApp."
With that, she stood up to leave. If Stephen hadn't noticed that something was off with Simona at that moment, then all the time he had spent studying her would have been truly in vain. He knew her well.
At this point, it was clear that Simona had begun to doubt him. He knew he had been neglecting her lately, but he also understood Simona well.
