Aiken was usually very busy. Whenever Simona asked if he would be home for dinner, he would answer that he couldn't eight out of ten times.
But today, things seemed different.
"I'm already at home now."
Simona's eyes reddened when she heard her brother's voice.
Skylar was right. In this world, anyone could abandon her or approach her with ulterior motives, but her brother never would. Her brother was the person who treated her the best in the world.
…
In the evening, Skylar and Aiken discussed Simona's situation over video call.
Aiken told her that Simona acted as though nothing had happened, remaining silent when they had dinner together.
Skylar replied, "She probably doesn't want you to worry."
"She's definitely different from when she was younger. Now, she can process and face things on her own. But as for Stephen, I won't let him off the hook. He'll pay the price for deceiving my sister," Aiken said.
Skylar chuckled. That was Aiken's true nature.
It was also Stephen's bad luck.
All the women he had deceived before had let him go. That gave him the courage to continue his games. So, it was only a matter of time before his luck ran out.
"Are you on a call?"
Joe had just returned and walked straight into the room. He had raised his voice slightly on purpose as he had heard Aiken's voice from outside.
Aiken, who was chatting casually with Skylar, was clearly relaxed. As a man himself, Joe understood the soft tone Aiken used when talking to Skylar.
Was he harboring thoughts about his wife?
Skylar looked over and greeted him, "You're back."
Seeing her gaze filled with affection, Joe felt a little more at ease. But his impression of Aiken was still unfavorable.
