Skylar reminded Harvey, "Alright, get some rest. If anything comes up, you can always call Steven or Charles."
Harvey agreed and ended the call.
After hanging up, Skylar found herself momentarily lost in thought. Joe walked over and handed her a glass of water. "Want me to have someone look into it?"
Skylar looked up, initially inclined to decline. However, she quickly reconsidered. It would be unwise to remain passive.
Unlike Harvey and the others, she wasn't Finn's biological daughter. That explained why Finn hadn't sought her out.
Her feelings toward Finn were different, more detached. She only had a few memories of him. Still, she didn't want to think the worst of someone connected to Harvey and the others by blood.
"I'll have Paul look into it discreetly. No one will notice," Joe added.
"Alright. Knowing what he's been up to might put my mind at ease. I can't shake the feeling that he's not here just to reconnect with Steven and the others."
Joe nodded in agreement. "I agree. If he'd been living in Jipsburg all this time, even if he didn't know Harvey and Steven, he would definitely know about Charles. Charles is everywhere—in TV shows, advertisements, and movies across Jipsburg.
"There's no way he didn't know you all were here. The fact that he stayed silent all these years but suddenly appeared now suggests something's pushed him to act."
Skylar's expression grew serious. "My mom has finally found some peace in her life. I don't want anyone disturbing that."
"If he decides to show up, we'll handle whatever comes. Don't worry," Joe reassured her in a gentle tone.
Skylar's face softened, though a twinge of guilt lingered. "You already have so much on your plate, and now I'm dragging you into this."
"It's nothing. I'll have Paul handle it later," Joe said with a smile. At most, he'd give Paul a bonus and a few words of praise.
Moreover, seeing Skylar's furrowed brow always made his heart ache.
…
After ending the call, Harvey reached out to Steven. They discussed Finn's sudden reappearance and their suspicions.
