Right before Skylar could hit the person next to her, they spoke up, "It's me."
Surprised, Skylar exclaimed, "Joe?"
Joe hummed in acknowledgment and said, "Don't worry. Go back to sleep."
Skylar sighed in relief and asked, "Didn't you say you would be away on a business trip for two days? Why have you come home today?"
After being roused in the middle of the night, Skylar's drowsiness had dissipated.
Joe hugged her and explained, "I finished my work early. I've just gotten off the plane."
"Alright, have a good rest," Skylar whispered. She said nothing else.
He'd caught a flight back home in the dead of the night. Joe must've been tired.
Perhaps it was a figment of Skylar's imagination, but she felt like Joe was troubled. However, it was only a guess of hers. Maybe he was indeed merely exhausted.
Skylar fell asleep shortly after in Joe's warm embrace. Joe drifted off as well.
When she woke up and saw Joe beside her, she knew what had happened the previous day hadn't been a dream.
Joe had woken up along with Skylar.
Joe glanced at Skylar, who was trying to tip-toe out of the bedroom. He said, "Let's go for breakfast together. I know a good restaurant."
Skylar stopped and looked back at Joe. She asked, "Aren't you going to keep resting?"
"There's no need for that."
Joe got out of bed. He was wearing matching pajamas with Skylar.
