Chapter 718
Charles asked, “Has Mr. Madron not arrived yet?”
Felicia had previously worked on a film with Charles. Back then, he was just another decent–looking man from a humble background, so she hadn’t paid. much attention to him.
Though she recognized him, Charles was only a small player in the past. However, his popularity had begun to rise in the last few months.
Still, she didn’t think he was right as the male lead in her current project. If it weren’t for his connection with Skylar, she might have asked Oswald to find someone to replace him.
“Mr. Madron had an urgent matter come up. Let’s discuss things between us first,” Felicia said.
Charles furrowed his brow but took a seat across from Felicia. “Alright. You mentioned some concerns about the male lead role. Why don’t you share your thoughts?”
Felicia had no specific ideas. She hadn’t even read the script yet, merely skimming it daily. She smiled and said, “Let’s have some food first.”
“I ate before coming here and am not too hungry now. I need to control my weight before joining the crew. Go ahead and eat. I’ll wait for you,” Charles said, maintaining a business–like demeanor.
Felicia’s smile faltered. “Alright, please wait for me for ten minutes.”
Skylar returned the car to its spot in the garage and put the keys away. She planned to buy a new car tomorrow and decided not to drive this one anymore.
That night, Joe sent her a message saying he would stay at Avalon Residence for a few days. She responded with a simple “Okay” and nothing more.
Joe saw only a one–word response with no punctuation or emoji, and he keenly sensed Skylar’s coldness. He texted back, “Feeling lonely at home?”
He waited for a few minutes, but there was no response. Joe raised his

eyebrows and lightly smirked. It seemed that he didn’t hold a significant place in her mind. She was probably too busy chatting with her family or friends to pay him any attention.
Joe felt a pang in his heart. It seemed necessary to secure a spot in her mind for himself.
An exclamation mark from Rowan jolted Joe’s attention back to his phone.
Joe opened Rowan’s message, which was filled with multiple exclamation marks. He read the final line. “Vera is back! I just saw her! Has she contacted you?”
Joe’s gaze lingered on Vera’s name. After a few seconds, he typed a response,
“No.”
Rowan replied almost instantly, “Some women are just cold–hearted, Forget about her. You have Skylar now, so there’s no need to dwell on Vera.”
Joe’s gaze darkened as he replied, “Talk to your fiancée about this. I’m busy.”
Rowan sent a rolling eye emoji, ending the conversation.
Joe lingered on the chat page for a moment before exiting. Just then, a maid approached. She informed him that his uncle, Garth Martin, wanted to see him.
Joe’s expression turned cold as he responded with a curt, “Okay.”
