Were they incapable of withstanding even a week of separation? The more Joe thought about it, the more his expression soured.
He had a fever now, so his face had been pale. The angrier he got, the more terrifying he seemed.
"I ran into him in the afternoon. How are you feeling now? Are you sure you don't want to go to the hospital?" Skylar looked at him weirdly.
If she didn't know better, she would've thought he was jealous of Aiken.
Joe bit his lip. Did she run into him? Would there be such perfect coincidences?
Perhaps because his head was spinning, Joe lost control over his emotions.
"I don't want to go."
"Um… Mr. Evans from the branch company is asking for me. He has a few things to discuss with me. S-Should I go now? Mrs. Martin, I'll hand the task of taking care of Mr. Martin over to you." Paul knew that the situation was taking a turn for the worse. He had to make his escape as soon as possible.
With Skylar there, he didn't need to worry about Joe. Without giving them a chance to react, he spun on his heels and walked away as though there was a beast in the hall.
Skylar couldn't stop him in time.
In the end, she turned to Joe resignedly and said, "Let's go back to your room. I'll take your temperature again."
She couldn't let his fever worsen. He needed to get examined at the hospital.
Joe stopped throwing a tantrum. He nodded and agreed to head upstairs with her.
When they entered the elevator, Joe stared at Skylar. She had no idea why he was doing so. She said, "You've got to speak up if you're feeling uncomfortable in any way."
"My heart feels uncomfortable," mumbled Joe.
However, Skylar heard him loud and clear. She asked, "Why?"
Joe said, "You know why."
