When Edwin received Jenny's message, he was already on the way to the Wiscadian restaurant. Sitting next to him was Molly. The couple appeared to be very respectful of each other.
Since their return from abroad, various small media outlets had reported extensively on them. They portrayed Molly's departure from the entertainment industry years ago as a noble sacrifice for love.
Many young women who were new to the entertainment industry or had a modest status looked up to Molly as a role model, hoping to marry into a wealthy family one day.
They also wished to find a man who truly cared for them—someone who would cherish them even if they couldn't bear children and not view her as a burden.
But these fairy-tale stories seemed like a joke to their driver, Rolf Thompson.
The wealthy couple in the back seat appeared to be loving, but those around them were unaware of their secrets. Rolf knew well that each of them had their own affairs.
"This Wiscadian restaurant is one we've never been to before," Edwin gently told Molly.
Molly smiled and said, "Then I'll have to taste the chef's cooking at this Wiscadian restaurant and see if it measures up to our usual place."
They exchanged smiles, looking very much like a loving couple.
Inside, Molly felt a twinge of anxiety. The private detective she had hired recently informed her that, whether day or night, Edwin would seek out Jenny whenever he had the urge.
She hadn't expected Jenny, who claimed to be disinterested, to be so alluring.
Edwin suddenly leaned closer and whispered in Molly's ear, "We need to make sure Joe sees me as his father. When you meet him later, try to shift the blame for past mistakes onto yourself. I'll make it up to you for all the unfairness you've endured once we get home."
Molly smirked inwardly but kept a calm expression. "That's what you promised. Remember my sacrifice, darling. No matter what happens in the future, don't forget everything I've done for you."
"When have I ever forgotten? We are meant to be together forever. We share both joys and sorrows, and our love over the years has been real. I can't live without you." Edwin had always been skilled at these displays of affection.
