Chapter 882
Jenny’s eyes widened. She couldn’t believe Rowan was throwing a fit at her for Skylar. All sense of logic
left her.
She complained angrily, “How dare you shout at me for Skylar? Rowan, would you dare to swear that you harbor no romantic intentions for Skylar on oath? You know she’s Joe’s wife, so you don’t have the courage to make your love evident, right?”
That was the truth. It had to be. Skylar was a bitch. She tried to prove her charm by flirting men. If not, Joe wouldn’t have investigated Jenny. She wouldn’t have lost all hope with Joe.
Rowan was floored. Jenny seemed like a stranger to him.

He’d thought she was a little princess in need of protection. Her cruel words and jealous outlook were a stark contrast to that. He didn’t know her at all.
Rowan pushed Jenny away. He said, “I don’t think I know you enough. Go see the doctor yourself. Give us some time to calm down.”
This terrified Jenny. She calmed down suddenly and grabbed Rowan’s arm in an attempt to stop him from leaving.
She stared at him with tears in her eyes and said, “Rowan, I’m sorry. I was too concerned about you. I didn’t mean to imply that you were having an affair with Skylar. I wasn’t thinking straight.”
Rowan gave Jenny a long, hard look. She was like a stranger to him. He hadn’t really sat himself down calmly to contemplate why Jenny suddenly changed her mind and sought him out.
Jenny said that she found out he was the one she adored after going through some hardships. Was that the truth?
Jenny noticed that the displeasure and confusion in his eyes hadn’t dissipated. She panicked internally and reminded herself not to act on impulse. She had to keep calm.
Skylar emerged from the shower at 9:00 pm. Joe had taken a bath in the guest bathroom. She ran into Joe when he came out with dripping hair,
got something I want to talk to you about,” Joe said. He signaled for her to get into the bed.
She nodded and replied, “Let me change into my pajamas first.”
She headed into the dressing room and got changed quickly.
When s
she got into the bed, Joe enveloped her in a hug. Skylar froze. She picked up on a change in Joe’s mood. He’d placed his forehead on her shoulder as though he was a wounded creature.
“What’s going on?”
Joe said nothing. He continued holding on to her.
After ten minutes, Joe explained, “Today is the anniversary of my mom’s death.”
