Chapter 887
This was the first time the guard had seen Joe bring a woman. Although she was dumbfounded, she schooled her expression into one of composure.
After Joe and Skylar got into the elevator, she texted Paul, “Mr. Ziegler, Mr. Martin brought a gorgeous woman with him to the office.
“Is she his future wife? Mr. Martin seems to treat her very well. He helped her hold the door while they entered the elevator and invited her in before him.”
For everyone else, this was merely a gentlemanly act. However, Joe never behaved like that.
Hadn’t everyone said that Vera would be his future wife, as mentioned in the newspaper’s gossip column? Anyone who saw them would’ve thought so.
Paul replied a few minutes later, “Believe in your intuition, but don’t indulge in too much gossip.”
She got what he meant in a second. Skylar was Joe’s wife. However, she wasn’t allowed to tell anyone else about it.
Skylar and Joe took the elevator straight to his office. The whole floor belonged to him. It was great vantage point. They could see the entire skyline of Jipsburg from his window.
“Do you like it?” Joe asked. He noticed Skylar lost in thought as she stared out the windows.
Skylar looked back at him and said, “This is the first time I’ve looked at Jipsburg from this angle. It’s a weird feeling.”
Joe smirked and said, “I’ll take you to the top floor later.”
“Alright.”
She began scanning Joe’s office. It was simply decorated. He had no antiques on show. Instead, he had a few modern art pieces. In such circumstances, there was no way he’d have any negative items.
Skylar smiled. Joe was very alert in this aspect. Perhaps it was because of Skylar, as he’d seen her dealing with many negative items.
Then, she strode to his desk. It was sparsely populated. He had a computer, a file, as well as a penholder with a few fountain pens inside. Skylar could imagine many files and contracts piled upon his table during the weekday, which Joe needed to scan through.
Joe had been trailing behind Skylar. When she paused in front of his desk, he raised a brow. He used to have more things on his desk. He’d cleaned them out recently.
“Is there a problem?”
Skylar was about to shake her head when her eyes caught on the penholder. She said, “It looks alright. But can I look at these pens and the penholder?”
“Yeah.” Joe followed her gaze.
There were a few pens inside. He usually used them to sign contracts.
Skylar scrutinized the penholder after pulling the pens out. It was a beautiful modern piece. There wasn’t anything wrong with it
