Chapter 903

Skylar shook her head, her eyes glimmering with a faint sparkle. “They’re all great options, and I can’t choose between them.
“The planner is probably a woman who truly understands women’s thoughts and dreams. Even someone who’s against marriage would want a wedding after seeing these proposals.”
Skylar recalled that Vera had just returned a month ago. It was the same time Joe had started planning for the wedding. It puzzled her why he was still set on marrying her.
“Let’s pick one, then.” Joe’s voice was gentle as he looked at Skylar.
Skylar felt a flicker of disorientation but quickly brushed it aside.
Minutes later, her gaze drifted, and she spotted Rowan nearby. He was seated across from an elegantly dressed woman, her mature charm unmistakable. Even from a distance, it was clear she wasn’t Jenny.
“What are you looking at?” Joe asked as he noticed Skylar staring absentmindedly at a particular spot.
“I saw Rowan,” Skylar replied, pulling her gaze away.
Rowan looked serious and was deeply engrossed in a conversation with the woman. Hence, he didn’t
notice her.
Joe raised an eyebrow and followed her gaze. He glanced briefly before looking away.
“Rowan and Minerva.”
“Minerva?” Skylar had heard that name before, as Minerva was supposed to be Rowan’s fiancée. They were probably here for a date today.
“If nothing unexpected happens, he’s here to discuss breaking off the engagement with Minerva,” Joe said after taking a sip of his red wine.
Skylar said nothing more. It was clear that Rowan and Minerva were breaking up because Rowan was determined to be with Jenny.
Ten minutes later, Skylar went to the restroom.
As soon as she entered, she heard someone talking on the phone in the adjacent stall.
At first, she didn’t pay much attention. But then she thought the voice sounded familiar, like… Jenny.
“Yes, Rowan and I are together now. He will clarify things with Minerva today. He never really wanted to be with her. Their relationship was just a façade to satisfy their families. There were no real feelings involved. I don’t mind that Rowan was engaged to her.
“You say Minerva has liked Rowan for a long time? Really? All I can say is I’m sorry. I didn’t think much of it before, but now I realize that a woman should be with someone who loves and will cherish her.
“Am I afraid the Jakeman family might refuse to cancel the engagement? No, I’m not worried because I trust Rowan will ensure Minerva steps aside for me. Even if Minerva has feelings for Rowan, it doesn’t matter. It reflects poorly on her if she insists on pursuing a man who doesn’t reciprocate her feelings.
“And as you all know, Rowan has been fond of me for years. Despite the many people who have tried to get close to him, he has never shown genuine interest in anyone. Certainly not Minerva.
“Alright, I’m done talking. I’m going downstairs to wait for Rowan. He should have cleared things up with Minerva by now.
“If Minerva is sensible, she won’t cling to Rowan. Rowan has said he doesn’t care who I liked in the past or what has happened before. He only cares about our future.”
Soon after, the sound of flushing could be heard from the adjacent stall, and Jenny walked out.
