Preslie's blood flowed into her head, her face flushed red with anger.
Then, Yesseca walked up to Preslie and whispered into her ear, "Don't waste your breath with them. I've just called the police. They'll be here soon."
Preslie was gasping for air.
Although she knew that the police were on the way, she was still feeling very emotional.
What on earth did she do to deserve this?! How did she end up with these three horrible people as her family?!
Five minutes later, the police arrived.
But the police couldn't do anything about them.
After all, the last time Preslie's mother caused a scene, she nearly lost her life in the detention center. The police didn't dare touch her mother.
Besides, the Fernandez had made it clear that they were looking for their daughter over a personal family issue. It wasn't something they had any business in.
In the end, the policeman tactfully said to Yesseca, "Miss Cowell, this is a family matter. It wouldn't be right for us to interfere. Besides, they haven't gathered people illegally, caused any trouble or done anything excessive. Since this is a family matter, I suggest that you carefully consider things properly."
Having said that and to avoid getting into any trouble, the policeman quickly left.
When the Fernandez family saw the policeman leave, they began to feel more confident.
They began shouting loudly at Preslie and Yesseca in front of their new store. They started demanding them to give them the recipe or to have Preslie work for them.
"Preslie, you nearly killed your mother! You owe this to her! You'll be struck by lightning if you don't! You gave us your run- down, shabby store that wouldn't allow us to earn a single penny. Now you've opened up a new shop on your own. You dare to call yourself their daughter?!"
"That's right. If you consider yourself a human being, you should listen to your conscience. Why do you think me and your mother love Amelia more? It's because Amelia has a better conscience than you. She'd never be a liar like you!"
"You'd rather work for an outsider, instead of your own parents! Why are you like this? Do you even
consider yourself their daughter?!"
Their voices kept assaulting her in all directions and made their way into Preslie's brain.
