He had invited Preslie out, but the truth was he had actually kept one detail from her; Tremaine was here to see her.
He was afraid that Preslie would never have agreed to come if she knew Tremaine was here.
Just then, seeing as she was hesitating just outside the door to the private room, he feared that she had already found out.
He made an apologetic face as he looked at her and said, "Preslie, I'm very sorry. The truth is, I've invited you out tonight for something else than just dinner. I have something very important to tell you."
Preslie felt her mouth and tongue dry up.
"Here it comes!"
Was he really going to confess his love for her?
She... she wasn't ready.
"Preslie, I..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Preslie suddenly interrupted him by asking, "Mr. Hawls, do you really think I'm beautiful?"
Sheldon was quiet.
He was very confused. Preslie had chosen the strangest time to ask him this.
"Yes, you are very beautiful," Sheldon said with absolute certainty after looking at her.
Although society wouldn't call her beautiful, in his eyes, she was leagues more beautiful than those other women with thick makeup and horrible attitudes.
Her skin was fair, her eyes sparkled and she had an amazing personality. She was beautiful in every way possible!
Preslie gulped.
Just then, with an unexpected burst of courage, she said, "Mr. Hawls, I've always felt inadequate. I've always thought of myself as ugly, silly and overweight. I figured that even the most ordinary man wouldn't even bother giving me a second glance. But now... I've received such wonderful affirmations from an amazing man like you. I... I'm so very happy."
Preslie's eyes sparkled, "Whatever you ask of me today, I'll agree to anything you say."
She had let it all out.
Even if Mr. Hawls thought of her as desperate, she meant it!
