Since Rorita had already asked such a question, Ruth had no choice but to admit, "Yes, Ms. Cowell."
From the way Ruth had brought up Yesseca, Rorita could deduce that not only did Ruth know her, she was quite familiar with Yesseca as well.
Rorita couldn't help asking, "Is Yesseca an excellent woman?"
Not hiding a single thing from Rorita, Ruth said, "Yes, she is. Yesseca is a wonderful girl... and she's pure-hearted yet brave and kind."
Ruth did not know if Rorita would grow upset if she continued to compliment Yesseca in front of her.
However, even if that were the case, Ruth couldn't lie and bad-mouth Yesseca, so she had no choice but to speak honestly.
Hearing Ruth's words, Rorita fell silent.
She lowered her head, her eyelashes fluttering gently. Nobody knew what she was thinking.
Ruth kept quiet as well, not daring to ask Rorita anything.
After a long while, Rorita spoke, "Truth be told, you
didn't need to speak so much on her behalf. Yesseca must be a wonderful woman for Mr. Tremaine to be so caught up on her."
Ruth had no idea how to respond.
"Do you know why Yesseca broke up with Mr. Tremaine?" Rorita asked again.
Ruth shook her head.
She was uncertain about the reason they had broken things off.
After all, when she had left Quartley Palace, Tremaine and Yesseca had still been joined by the hip.
Seeing Ruth shake her head, Rorita let out a bitter laugh.
She said faintly, "I never managed to figure out why Mr. Tremaine would break up with Yesseca. He used to love her so much to the point where he had gone against the entirety of Nashaland. Why did they suddenly split up?"
By then, Rorita paused before continuing, "So, you were a servant in the Quartley Palace? While you were there, was Yesseca still staying there? Did Mr. Tremaine treat her extraordinarily well?
