Sheldon was in a tough spot.
After thinking about what to do, he called Yesseca.
He knew that Montez would listen to her.
Sheldon called and explained the situation to her.
Yesseca then asked anxiously, "Why is Montez fighting with Tremaine? Do you know why?"
Sheldon was just as confused as she was. "I don't know. They were already quarreling when I got here."
Yesseca then said, "Pass the phone to Montez."
Sheldon gave Montez the phone.
Montez refused it at first, but after Sheldon told him that it was Yesseca, Montez took the phone.
Yesseca didn't ask Montez about his quarrel with his father, instead she asked about his health and if he was feeling alright. She then asked, "Montez, Mr. Hawls told me you haven't been to school for the past few days. Since you're not that sick, you should be able to go."
Montez kept quiet.
Yesseca softened her voice and asked, "Do you need something? You can tell me if something's bothering you. I'll help you figure it out."
"No Yesseca, you can't." Montez replied.
"Montez, how do you know that if you don't tell me what it is?"
There was only silence from the other end of the phone.
Yesseca didn't rush and waited patiently.
After some time, Montez replied, "Everyone's bringing their mothers to school but me. That's why I don't want to go."
Yesseca was shocked.
She finally understood why Montez was upset.
Montez was upset because he didn't have a mother to go to his school's Mother's Day event.
And she had rejected his request...
Back then, Yesseca thought that things would be fine even though she had turned him down, she never expected things to turn out this way.
Yesseca couldn't stand it anymore.
