Caspian's heart tightened violently.
The memories long suppressed by his younger self rushed back in a torrent of pain.
He recalled why his mother had become pregnant with Greg again.
It was because of him, Caspian. His actions had led Brian to discover their mother's impending departure, and he had kept her confined.
At first, he could hear his mother's agonizing cries every night.
Later, Caspian was born.
His mother became like a walking corpse. Her body thinned each day while her belly grew bigger and bigger.
Caspian remembered seeing his mother in that state, and he was terrified. He cried and apologized to her.
But his mother...
Caspian recalled her expression when she looked at him.
Disgust, indifference.
Then she went crazy. She pounced on him and choked his neck.
She was too strong, too ferocious.
Caspian could feel that she wanted him dead.
She hated him.
Just as he was about to die, Brian came back.
Brian yelled and pulled his mother away. She didn't say a word throughout the ordeal. She just looked at him with resentment.
Caspian clutched his throbbing chest and collapsed onto the sofa in the hospital room.
After that day, he didn't see his mother until after she had given birth.
Greg was born in a spring full of blossoms.
Brian probably wanted to improve her mood, so he chose a room in the postnatal care center with a window overlooking cherry blossoms.
When he went to see her, she looked withered. She stared at the window without blinking.
Caspian approached her and cried, asking, "Mom, do you hate me?"
His mother didn't look at him.
Her focus was still fixated on the cherry blossoms. "Of course, you are the evidence of his violation. I had to marry him because of your existence. I had to endure his abuse every day after the marriage, or he would threaten to harm you..."
At this point. She finally looked at Caspian.
