Evie approached Aron, opening her arms to hug him and planting a kiss on his lips. "Why haven't you slept yet?" She asked.
It was almost one o'clock at midnight.
"I was waiting for you to return for a late-night snack," Aron replied softly. "I went to the barbecue restaurant you love and got a lot of takeout."
"You went all the way to South City?" Evie was surprised.
It took about an hour and a half to travel there.
"It's okay. I finished my work, and there was nothing else to do. I waited until Aiden and Mia fell asleep, then made a quick trip," Aron explained, "I even learned to make cocktail online. It's quite nice."
"Really? Where is it? I want to try it right away!" Evie exclaimed.
Athena watched Aron and Evie with an endearing smile as they headed toward the kitchen.
"Evie found the right person this time," Athena thought.
Athena could sense the emotional significance Aron held for Evie.
He didn't display even a hint of arrogance or entitlement.
Evie was always his top priority.
Byron looked at Athena.
He could sense that Athena was happy for Evie, but there was also a tinge of envy in her expression.
Byron carefully pondered.
She had once looked at him just like she looked at Evie now, with her heart and eyes filled with love for him.
If only he had been more clear-headed and realized it sooner.
Perhaps they wouldn't have ended up in this ambiguous state today.
Athena noticed the gaze beside her and turned to Aron.
"What are you looking at?" Athena asked Aron with a slightly stern tone.
Byron put on a pity expression. "You should hug and kiss me, too," He said half-jokingly.
Byron made the comment without expecting it to be taken seriously.
"Lower your head." Athena gestured while raising her chin slightly.
Byron paused for a moment, then meekly lowered his head as instructed.
Athena leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on his forehead.
