Chapter 1702 That Sounds Tough
Brett contemplated for a moment, then silently took the piece of paper.
That evening, fresh and delicious watermelon slices were served at the dining hall.
The volunteers enjoyed their meal, and Sally also seemed delighted.
"But it's so weird, though," Sally looked at the meal on the plate and said, "As time went by, it seems that our meal has become tastier!"
Elijah looked at Sally as if she were an adorable child.
He had heard people talk about Sally before, with many saying she was delicate and pretentious.
But what they didn't know was how easy Sally was to take care of.
"We'll go buy some local pastries for them later." Elijah suggested. He plucked a crumb that had landed on Sally's hair.
"Are they tasty?" Sally's eyes immediately lit up.
Elijah nodded. "Not bad."
"Then I'll buy some for Micah too!" Sally really liked the somewhat absent-minded but strangely mature Micah.
"Alright," Elijah agreed.
After finishing their meal and helping with the cleanup in the dining hall, Sally and Elijah left through the side door.
They found a bakery just outside the church, in the same alley as Mr. and Mrs. Reed's fruit store.
News of Elijah's return had already spread throughout the old neighborhood,
so when Elijah and Sally arrived, the bakery owner was only briefly surprised.
While Elijah chatted with the owner, he handed over a list of the pastries they needed to the clerk.
After that, Elijah immediately introduced his wife.
Sally ignored the scrutinizing looks she received and politely greeted everyone.
They ordered several large boxes of pastries.
The owner also gave them another box, saying, "This is a traditional pastry for good luck. Congratulations on your marriage!"
Sally's eyes welled up with tears.
