Byron lowered his eyelids and smiled self-deprecatingly. "I'm afraid she doesn't want to see me now."
In the bedroom.
Athena stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, overlooking this majestic city, and the scenes of playing with George in the alley when she was a child were all recurring in her mind.
George had been clean and gorgeous since childhood, a boy even more beautiful than the girls in that old alley.
He always smiled and could conjure up all kinds of her favorite cakes and candies as if he could do magic.
Sometimes her mother would get angry if she was too naughty or overate. But as long as George was there, he would protect her every time.
He was good at pleasing adults.
With his words, her mother would be pleased, laugh, and stop beating her.
George occupied most of her wonderful childhood.
Therefore, even after watching the live broadcast, Athena couldn't believe George would betray her and hurt Rose.
Athena didn't want to be entangled in her wild thoughts.
So she took out her phone and called George directly.
The phone rang for a long time and finally hung up with no answer.
But Athena persevered and called him again.
It still hung up after no one answered.
She kept calling, and finally, the third phone call was answered.
"George, where are you? I want to see you." Athena said immediately after the call was connected.
There was a moment of silence on the other side of the phone.
Then came George's chuckle. "Mrs. Crawford, in what capacity are you meeting me? Why do you want to see me again?"
