"Huh! I'll make some marks on you later and see if you still think they look nice!" I retorted.
He smiled lightly, and his eyes darkened. "Well be in a hurry later. Let's do it at night instead. I'll cooperate willingly!"
I...
I was taken advantage of for no reason at all.
I ignored him, got a seat and sat down, then ordered some food.
Then, Rowane made an appearance as if she had planned it beforehand. Just when we were done ordering the dishes, she walked in dressed in a slick black dress. Her long legs were clad in boots, and she looked very striking.
"Mr. Roberts, Miss Reid, what a coincidence!"
Hendrix nodded and replied lightly, "Yes!" He then looked at me and said, "You must be very tired from last night. You should eat more to replenish your energy!"
When I heard this, I blushed and looked at the food in my bowl, and I couldn't help but blush even more.
Rowane wasn't stupid. Coupled with the fact that there were obvious love bites all over my neck, she realized what had happened and her face sank.
She suppressed her emotions, and continued calmly, "Mr. Roberts, Miss Reid, do you mind if I sit with you? I don't have anyone else with me."
I said, "I don't mind!"
But Hendrix said, "I do mind!"
We spoke simultaneously, but our answers were different.
"Oh! Sorry for disturbing you then!" Rowane walked away and found a new spot.
I looked at Hendrix and couldn't help frowning. "Why are you so unkind? It would be boring for her to eat alone. Having company makes it less awkward!"
He raised his eyebrows. "I don't like others sitting next to me."
"Nonsense!" I rolled my eyes at him.
When I saw the okra served on the table, I moved it in front of him and said, "Eat more of this. It helps with your strength!"
