My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 1091

After a moment of silence, Rowane said, "I've always been curious about your marriage with Hendrix. How did you, a woman without any prestigious status or background, manage to stay by Hendrix's side for so many years? After seeing the missing daughter of the Moore Family, I finally understood. Hendrix's first love when he was young was Miss Moore, but the both of them ended up separating, and you became her substitute."

She paused for a moment before speaking again. "Actually, if Andrea had become Hendrix's wife at the end, I would at least feel relieved. Her looks and figure might not be better than mine, but she has good parents. The Moore Family is strong and powerful, and she could be considered a match for Hendrix. I do acknowledge that. However, you're different. I'm not satisfied with you. You are nothing compared to me. You don't even have a prestigious family, so who do you think you are? Do you think you're worthy of Hendrix?”

I pursed my lips. I had forgotten about it. For so many years, although the Moore Family knew the whole story, they had never publicized that Andrea was not the daughter of the Moore Family in order to maintain their reputation.

It was probably due to them feeling indebted towards Andrea. Although Andrea had left the Moore Family, in certain aspects, she was still under their protection by posing as one of them.

Rowane had probably failed to do her research, which is why she had brought up the matter.

I didn't intend to argue with her. I simply said, "A lighter worth ten dollars could still light up a cigarette that is worth tens of thousands. Miss Zanes, only a marriage without love needs one to consider whether both parties are worthy of each other, but a marriage with love doesn't. For both Hendrix and I, our marriage has at least been blessed by our parents. Outsiders are not qualified at all to judge us."

She sneered, "Oh really?" Putting aside the coffee spoon in her hand, she leaned back against the chair and looked at me with disdain.

"Are you really that sure that Hendrix loves you? Is there any sort of love between you and Hendrix?"

I couldn't help frowning, "I don't think that I should even argue about this with you."

She chuckled easily and said, "That's right, you really don't have to. After all, Arianna, in your heart, you're not sure whether he loves you or not, right? Affection can be faked, so love can be as well!"

I looked at her with my chin jutted out. I couldn't help but feel that she was being a little too obvious as I said, "Miss Zanes, do you only possess the ability to handle technological stuff, and nothing else? It's not up to you whether Hendrix loves me or not. You're behaving in such an unconventional manner now, wanting to make me think that he doesn't love me. What's your actual reason for doing so?"

She pulled a long face, saying, "It's nothing. I just feel that you're quite pitiful!"

I nodded and looked at my phone, "It's time for me to go back. Naomi should be up sometime soon."

I got up and said, "Thank you for your pity then, Miss Zanes. Let me remind you that you don't have to try to upset me here because you will just get hurt in the end. You know this, because you realize Hendrix won't even look at you, so you've come to me to vent your anger and to pass on your negative thoughts onto me. In fact, you don't need to do that, because you make yourself seem even more pitiful by doing that!"

"Just a friendly reminder that I know more about Andrea and Hendrix than you do. As for my status, I don't think you should keep emphasizing it, because since Hendrix can marry me, it means that I am worth it and I am worthy of him. You don't need to fixate on the importance of a woman's beauty and talents. That might apply in the business world, but those factors are not so important in relationships between men and women."

"You..."
