My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 1246

On the other side, there were several tomatoes. The tomatoes had already dried up, except for some purple ones hanging on the branches. They looked a little old, probably because they weren't picked for a long time.

I was really bored. Seeing that there were some weeds in the garden, I couldn't help but stretch my hands out to get rid of them. When I heard footsteps behind me, I thought it was Tobias. Hence, I didn't turn around. I opened my mouth and said, "Did you plant all these? I didn't expect you, a cynical young master, to be so down-to-earth."

I didn't hear any reply, so I stayed silent. However, when I turned around, I saw a woman, probably in her forties. She was wearing a grey chiffon shirt, a pair of black wide-legged pants, and a pair of flat shoes that had mud on them. It seemed that she had just stepped on mud.

With a basket in her hand, a sunhat on her head, she looked at me and gave me soft smile. "Are you Tobias' friend?"

I was taken aback. I tried to figure out who that woman was, and who was she to Tobias. At Hayes Manor, I heard Monica saying that Tobias' mother was a model. She should be in her fifties. Hence, the woman before my eyes shouldn't be Tobias' mother.

Was she his elder sister or aunt?

I walked out of the vegetable garden, looked at her with a small smile, and said, "Hello, is this garden yours? It's very well taken care of!"

The woman smiled softly and handed me a bunch of grapes from the basket. "Try some. I just picked them. There's no pesticide. You can eat it without any worry," she said.

I took the grapes from her with a smile and took a bite. My eyes widened, and I couldn't stop smiling. "This grape is so sweet. Did you grow them?"

She nodded and smiled. "I planted them last year, and picked them today. Not bad, right?" Then, she looked at the weeds that were pulled out by me. "Do you also like gardening? I've been thinking about cleaning up these weeds for a few days now, but I've been too busy recently and it slipped my mind. Thank you!"

I shook my head with a smile and said, "These vegetables are a little old. We can only keep them as seeds. They can't be eaten anymore."

She nodded and put the basket aside. She looked at me as she said, "Are you interested in taking care of this garden with me? All the vegetables have to be picked. Then, we have to take out the seeds and dry them, and wait till next year to plant them."

I agreed. It was really hard for me to sit around and wait for the news. I wanted to find something to do to distract my attention.

After chatting for a while, I learned that the woman's name was Yulia. She told me that she lived in the yard, and occasionally took care of the flowers and plants in the yard to kill time. I thought that she was probably a gardener hired by Tobias.

Together, we picked all the vegetables in the garden, and then took out all the seeds in the vegetables. After washing them, we put them out to dry. There was not much work to do, but it was very healing.

Maybe it was the process of picking every ripe vegetable and putting them in the basket. It was very satisfying to look at the basket being filled slowly. We washed and cut the cucumbers one by one, and scooped out all the seeds with a spoon. After we were done, we washed them and dried them. I didn't need to think about anything. All I had to do was concentrate on what I was doing.
