I was a little surprised. I remembered Valerie telling me that she bumped into Nerissa at the hospital, and Nerissa had been with a man. I thought Valerie had been overthinking. However, now when I looked at them, they seemed rather intimate together.
The couple entered the restaurant. Then, Yana asked, "Hmm... Could this be a case of falling in love in one's twilight years?"
I smiled and shook my head. "I'm not sure either," I said. "Don't be nosy. Given Aunt Nerissa's age, I’m happy for her if she finds someone suitable to spend her life with."
"Well, that’s right," Yana nodded and continued in a serious tone, "I guess I believe in fate. Alas, everything is predestined. Some people attain great success and achievement at a young age but do not live a long life. On the other hand, there are some who lead a tough life but are able to live to a ripe old age. And there are those who go through life's greatest adversity at a young age but are able to achieve success in their later years. In the same vein, some people go through a series of failed relationships before meeting their true love."
I nodded in agreement. After ordering some of her favorite dishes, Ethan looked at Yana and said, "Are we then destined to be each other's lover?"
She looked at Ethan and said, "Well, I would say we met each other at the right timeg\."
As both of them were flirting, I looked at my cell phone to read Wendy's message. "This matter cannot be resolved over the phone! Let's meet up and talk!"
Indeed, it was very complicated and would be hard to discuss over the phone.
Hendrix's call came in. I swiped to answer his call. "Are you done with the meeting?" I asked.
He uttered hoarsely, "Yes, it has just ended. Where are you?"
"In the city center. I’m having dinner with Yana. Would you like to come over?"
"Alright!"
