My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 1384

When we arrived, Pedro was pushing the wheelchair, about to take Anne for a check- up. Valerie looked at me and said, "Your dad mentioned that you have a way to find a matching bone marrow for Anne. Is it true? Don't be rash. You’re pregnant now, so you have to take care of yourself first."

She looked agitated. She must have thought that I intended to donate my own bone marrow to Anne. "Mom, don't worry,” I said. "My tissue is not a match, neither is Hendrix's. If we were matching donors, we needn't have worried unnecessarily."

Bewildered, she replied, "You're right. So what’s your plan?"

I had not located the place which Sebastian told me about yet. Plus, I was still wary of him. I would have to head over to Asherton by myself and check the veracity of his claim. If there were no issues, I would get Hendrix to send Anne over.

"Don't worry about the bone marrow transplant. Anne will be going through some chemotherapy sessions in the days to come. Hendrix and I have been busy. We can only rely on you for looking after Anne."

She sighed and nodded. "Sure, you can count on me," she said. “I know you have been busy. I have handed all Lawson Group' s projects over to Sawyer. So I’ve got plenty of time at my disposal to look after Anne. Be sure to take care of yourself. Don't overexert yourself, since you' re pregnant."

I wanted to ask about Sawyer but I held back. I reckoned that I should mind my own business for now.

Half an hour later, Pedro brought Anne back to the ward. Not long after that, Anne fell asleep. Feeling tired and drowsy, Pedro leaned against the chair. Valerie went to find a nurse to ask what she had to do in the days to come.

I took the time to chat with Pedro. As I handed him a glass of warm water, I asked, "Dad, how did you get to know about organ trading?"

No one else was in the ward except the both of us. So I asked candidly. Pedro had been slumped against the chair, about to fall asleep. But as soon as he heard what I said, he was stunned. "Your mom told you, didn't she?" he asked.

I nodded. "Yeah, I know a thing or two," I said. "Dad, can you tell me more about it? Anne’s my daughter. I’m willing to fork out any amount of money, so long as it is legitimate. I won't resort to anything illegal."

He pursed his lips and lowered his head. "I have merely heard about it," he said. “I'm still trying to find out more. When I contacted them, they told me that as long as the offer is reasonable, they would be able to locate a suitable organ. I was told that if a child does not die of natural causes, his or her organs would be eligible for donation. So I thought perhaps we could locate a suitable organ for Anne through this market. Your mom has been worrying about me, but I know what I'm up to."

I nodded and thought for a moment. "Dad, you should stay out of this matter," I said. "Let me head over to Asherton to ask around. I don't think you should get involved, you'll attract a lot of attention as you' re a prominent figure. Besides that, in the unfortunate event that you're caught, the Moore Family will be implicated. So, I should be the one to handle this matter."

Pedro remained silent, appearing deep in thought. After that, he looked at me and said, "You're right. It's better if you were to handle this matter. I'll get Sheridan to come back from Oakland and accompany you to Asherton. I'd be less worried if he is by your side."

As I thought about Sheridan, I could not help but be curious. "Dad, what is Mr. Lawson to you? He doesn't seem like an ordinary bodyguard, judging from his influence in Oakland."
