My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 1456

I smiled vaguely and said, "There has been too much going on these days. Didn't I call you girls up as soon as I had time? By the way, have both of you seen Dahlia lately? It's been so long since our last meet-up. I wonder how she has been."

Rainie replied, "I saw her a few days ago. I heard that she has adopted a five or six-year-old child. I assume that she's not planning to get married. Plus, she's already thirty-six or seven years old. It looks like she's adopting a child so that she won't feel lonely in the coming days. But strangely, the last time I saw her, she was driving an S-class Mercedes Benz. Not only that, she even bought a house a couple of days ago. Didn't she say she was broke? Do you girls know what's up with her recently? How did she get the money to buy all these?"

Tina shook her head and said, "I have no idea. I barely keep in contact with her, and I'm not interested in knowing her updates."

Stunned for a moment, Rainie then asked, "You don't seem to like Dahlia very much, do you, Tina?"

Tina was a straightforward person with her heart on her sleeve. She shrugged her shoulders and said lightly, "I can't say I like or dislike her, she's just a hi-bye friend to me. She just doesn't belong to the world we are in, as you girls know. In my point of view, she's too ambitious to treat us as friends. To her, we're acquaintances. So, I don't really see her as a friend."

Listening to their conversation, I gave a small smile before saying, "Hey, it's alright. We are just chit-chatting here. It's okay if you don't want to talk about it. I'm just curious about the child that Dahlia adopted and where he or she came from. Can a single woman adopt a child legally?"

Rainie nodded. "It shouldn't be a problem as long as she meets the requirements. I heard that unmarried women between the age of thirty to forty can adopt a child, as long as they have the financial means. Besides, Dahlia did tell me that the kid isn't an orphan, but a child that lost their mother in a car crash. Unfortunately, the child's father was sentenced to death. That was how the child ended up in her care."

A death sentence?

I smiled faintly and went home after an afternoon with the girls.

I was surprised to bump into Naomi when I reached the villa's entrance, where she was moving some stuff. She'd hired a moving company to help with moving the boxes outside.
