My Pretty Sweetheart novel Chapter 1455

He frowned at me without any reply to my question.

I wasn't sure about his answer, but asked anyway, "Can you go to Oakland? Please head to Oakland and secretly protect Hendrix. Sebastian must be setting up his biggest pitfall, waiting for Hendrix to fall into it. Can you go to Oakland and keep him safe?"

He scowled at me and said helplessly, "I'm sorry. I can only stay in Asherton for now. There's no way for me to get out of here. Mr. Kaleb has already been captured. It's just a matter of time before Tiago and I are captured as well, the police must be looking for me now. All I can do is to hide around Asherton like a street rat. I really can't go to Oakland.”

Hearing his response, I gave a feeble smile.

Everything was fated. There was nothing that I could do to change it, when everything was already planned.

Ten days later.

Kaleb was sentenced to death with reprieve. He was convicted for the weapons that were found in the Emperor Club, not to mention his involvement in organ trafficking.

Moreover, Bobbie was also convicted as Kaleb's accomplice.

At this point, Anne was brought back to Jarold City by both Valerie and Pedro. To our bewilderment, John and his family vanished into thin air overnight, and we had no way to find them.

Everything seemed to have come to an end, but I didn't feel as happy as I thought. Not only that, I even felt a sense of dissatisfaction in my heart, as Sebastian had fooled me for so long. In the end, I lost a child due to my own stupidity, whereas Sebastian was able to walk off scot-free.

I was not a good person. Thus, I wouldn't let things end just like that.

Sunday came along in a blink of an eye!

When Tina was getting married, I was over at Jarold City and ended up missing her wedding. So I called up both her and Rainie for a shopping spree to make up for it.

We hadn't seen each other for quite some time now, so I was surprised to discover that she had gained some weight. It was after a series of questionings that I found out she was pregnant.

Rainie then said jokingly, "Look at you, acting so different now that you're a mother- to- be, especially with that tenderness in your eyes. By the way, the customers have been asking about you, ever since you stopped going to the agency. Isn't it too early for you to take leave, when the baby is just two months along?"

Tina smiled faintly and said, "It's mainly my husband who is being paranoid. He'd be worried about me at work all day, not being able to focus on his own work. I might as well take leave and stay home for the time being since both his parents are at home to take care of me. He can relax if I do so."

As soon as she explained the situation, Rainie had an envious look on her face. "You're so lucky to have such a considerate husband! Plus, your parents-in-law are here to lend a helping hand. Look at me, after six years of marriage, yet I feel like a widow. I still have to raise my son even though my mother-in-law is here to help take care of him. Aside from that, she would quarrel with me out of nowhere. It's extremely annoying for me to stay home!"

Tina then comforted her with a gentle voice, "Well, this is life, I guess. Didn't you say that your husband had just started his own business? It must be tough for him to deal with everything on his own. Of course, you are a working mother who needs to cope with both at once, but it's all for a better future for your family. We all need to work hard to earn our happily ever after. My husband works really hard too. Both of us try to put ourselves in each other's shoes to get through the difficult days. You can't solely focus on the unhappy moments and ignore the happy ones."

Listening to her consoling words, Rainie sighed. After a moment, she turned towards me. "What about you, Arianna? We haven't seen you in months. How have you been? Your husband is handsome and rich. You are probably the happiest one among us. I talked to Naomi on the phone a few days back and she complained about Sebastian, who seems to still be ignoring her. Geez, what's going on with rich people? Why are they still busy trying to earn more when they are already filthy rich? It isn't like they are short on money or something."
