I stared at him with contempt. "How highly do you think of yourself? This is the first time I've come across a man who is completely puzzled as to what he should do with something this minor. No wonder you still haven't found a girlfriend up until now."
He was stupefied by my words. He stared at me and said, "What do you mean, I haven't found a girlfriend at my age? It's just that I don't want one! If I put myself out there, I would have found one a long time ago. I have a house, a car, and a huge sum of money in my savings. I'm also handsome. Is there any woman that will refuse me? I'll go and look for a girlfriend tomorrow." Then, he took the pasta back to the table and said arrogantly, "Not everyone is like Hendrix."
Seeing how agitated he had gotten, I held in my laughter, grabbed my own plate of pasta, and sat down in front of him. I looked at him and asked, "Have you never been in love with anyone?"
He was taken aback and stared at me. "What do you mean that I have never fallen in love with someone? I had indeed been in love before, but none of them were interested in getting married and were only with me because they were after
my money. I didn't see a point in it, so I just toyed with them. I want to be with someone who is not a gold-digger and greedy for my wealth."
Staring at him, I felt that his mindset was wrong. Thus I said to him, "You're wrong. When a woman reaches a certain point in life, besides loving you, she also needs to have some desire for money. Otherwise, do you expect her to not have any goals? If you meet a girl who doesn't desire your money nor you, what else can you offer her?"
He snorted and stared at me. "She just needs to care about me!"
"Even if she only cares about you, she also needs to get on with her life. If she cares solely about you and nothing else, how is she going to make a living for herself? If she asks for money from you, it means that she relies on you. Of course, there are some women who don't ask for money from you, but I'm sure you don't cherish this kind of person, right?"
The corners of his mouth twitched as he looked at me. "How did you know?"
I pursed my lips. "Of course I know. You lose interest in girls who don't want your money because you feel that you have nothing to offer them and you are not wanted. As for those who ask for money from you, you think that they are only with you for your wealth and thus you break up with them. Regardless, you are the one to blame."
Men will always be men. The reason why men give money to women was not because it was a gesture of love, but because they enjoy the feeling of being wanted and needed. After all, at a certain point in life, we had to rely on other people to satisfy some of our needs and desires.
Tobias stared at me and squinted his eyes. "What about you? Does Hendrix give you money to spend?"
I nodded. "Of course, I don't have a job now. How can I survive if I don't spend his money? But he is different from you. He buys me new clothes every season, as well as jewelry and bags. Even though he didn't love me as much when we first got married, he still maintained this habit all these years. Although I don't wear each and every piece of clothing, I always have new clothes to wear every season and his credit card is still with me."
He curled his lips and said, "Who can be as generous as Hendrix? Every season he spends around a few million dollars on clothes. Won't it be better if he hands the money over to you so you can choose the ones you like?"
