I was a little puzzled by her words. I glanced at her and said, "I don't know if Hendrix will agree with this. Besides, we're getting older now, and we already have Anne."
She shook her head and uttered, "It's not about age. I'm older than you, yet I can still get pregnant. The Roberts' business is already so well established. Another kid will liven the place up. Then, when you guys are old, they can stay by your side and accompany you. This is what makes old age so exciting."
I realized what she was trying to say. I stared at her and asked, "Aunt Nerissa, are you pregnant?"
She did not deny anything and instead said, "Well, it's only been three months. It's not certain yet. Jarred and I plan to have a wedding soon, but we do not have the courage to tell Hendrix. This is why we kept postponing."
I remembered Hendrix had once said that he did not agree to the marriage between Aunt Nerissa and Jarred, because Jarred was part of the Milton family, and Hendrix had a grudge against them. Therefore, he did not agree to it.
Thinking of this, I couldn't help but look at Nerissa and said, "Aunt Nerissa, Mr. Milton is part of the Milton family. Are you aware?"
She nodded her head calmly. "I'm aware. I am also aware of all the private disputes between Hendrix and the Milton family. However, all these exist only in the business world. Jarred is not involved in all these things. He's just a simple old professor. He's been alone his entire life. He just wants to spend the rest of his life with me. Arianna, if you can help me persuade Hendrix, I'd appreciate it. I'm old, and it's not easy for me to meet a person that I want to settle down with."
I knew what Nerissa meant, but I didn't know how to explain it to Hendrix. Sebastian had just been arrested, and no one was sure who would become the next heir of the Milton family. We were not certain if the Miltons would go up against the Roberts again in the future.
All these things were still uncertain.
About two hours later, Hendrix and Jarred walked out of the sitting room. Judging from their expressions, they seemed to have had a good chat.
"It's a pity you two have other things to deal with, otherwise we could've had dinner together as well," Jarred said with a smile.
Hendrix and I bade Nerissa and Jarred farewell.
When we were out of the building, I reached out and grabbed Hendrix's hand. "Hendrix, when you and Mr. Milton were in the sitting room, what did you guys talk about?"
He put my hand in his palm and said, "We talked about the Milton family's affairs. I will hand over the contract to him and ask him to hand it over to Master Milton. He has also decided to go ahead with the wedding."
I was stupefied for a moment, and I couldn't help but be delighted. I tugged his arm and said, "Really? Hendrix, you are too impressive. So the Roberts Groups will no longer be affected by Sebastian, and Mr. Milton and Nerissa can get married."
Thinking of this, I couldn't help muttering, "By the way, Aunt Nerissa is pregnant. She's about three months along now. New Year is around the corner, Aunt Nerissa wants everyone to head back to Ucrebury to visit Uncle Trent and Aunt Kennedy."
He nodded and kissed me on the forehead. "Why are you so delighted to see Aunt Nerissa and Jarred getting married? Silly girl!"
I chuckled and looked up at him and said, "I don't know why, but I'm delighted. Aunt Nerissa has been so lonely her entire life. Now she's met her own Mr. Right, and she's settling down. On top of that, she is pregnant. It's all good news."
