Wasn't Freya's happiness stolen away by Stephanie as well?
Zachary was seemingly aware that he was in the wrong, so he lowered his head even more and did not utter a single word.
Would Frey a have fallen for him if she saw his true colors back then?
"Did you really think that finding an outlaw and paying a huge sum of money could keep your hands clean from this?" Freya might be softhearted, but I definitely wasn't. I said, "Since the culprit has been caught, I have many ways to make him speak. He has caused intentional harm, so he'll end up with a jail term of three years at minimum. If the Moore family pressures the court, he will never be able to leave prison within ten years. While you, as an instigator, can only wait to spend your best years in prison."
Stephanie's young beauty was her greatest confidence to keep Zachary by her side. I needed to let her know that she must pay a huge price for hurting Freya.
Upon seeing my resolute expression, a wave of panic flashed across Stephanie's face. She frowned and avoided making eye contact with me. "Let the man go," Zachary pleaded immediately, a tinge of bitterness in his tone. "Stephanie already has a child in her belly. Let's not aggravate this situation even further."
She was pregnant?
No wonder Freya was so decisive in leaving him. It was because of this.
"Zachary Holt, you're really something, aren't you?" Pedro taunted, scowling. "I thought that you and Freya broke up because your personalities didn't match, but look at this. Yet you still consider yourself a man?"
Pedro gave his heart to no one but Valerie in his whole life. His only wish was to be with Valerie forever. He kept his vows and would be loyal to her. Obviously, it was natural for him to disparage Zachary's fickle behavior.
Zachary pursed his lips and stared into Pedro's eyes, gritting his teeth in shame and anger. Then, he turned to Freya and sighed. "Freya, all of this started because of me. You can blame me, but Stephanie is right, her family is innocent in all of this. Both of you are wrong in this matter. Since we have already separated, let's not argue for Oliver's sake, okay?" "Oliver?" Freya sneered. "It seems to me that you've already forgotten about the fact that you chose to abandon him for another child."
Zachary did not expect Freya to be so calm in this whole conflict. He paused for a moment and did not know what to say.
Freya was calmer than I expected. Her silent, empty gaze landed on Stephanie, her attractive pair of eyes looked like they lost their focus. She questioned, "Do you have any evidence to prove whatever you just accused me of?"
Once she said that, everyone was taken aback.
When they saw how Stephanie was standing up for herself, almost everyone acknowledged that Freya had indeed committed these acts. Now that they have heard her own words, they realized that there might be another side to this story.
"You said that your father was fired and your brother couldn't find a job, blaming it all on me. You think that because you robbed me of my man, I would definitely take my revenge," Freya commented. "Unfortunately, you still don't understand who I really am. If I wanted to deal with you, just as my brother mentioned previously, I wouldn't let you off with just taking away your job. I will definitely be honest and open about it, to show who you shouldn't mess around with." "It seems that I overestimated our past relationship. I must've been blind," she lamented, squinting her eyes at Zachary. "You allowed your woman to do such a thing to me. From now on, there's no need for the two of us to hold back for memories' sake anymore."
Zachary looked unsettled, a little baffled by her declaration.
