Milleon was extremely emotional regarding this issue. He took off his glasses and began to complain, "Motherf*cker. If it weren't for the strong influence that the Forbes family holds, I wouldn't have been reassured in handing over the money to that Forbes woman. I didn't expect to get cheated like this. I'm the boss of a listed company too, and yet when I went to her office, she wouldn't meet me. Even the tea went cold from waiting. She's looking down on me, but I will remember this. I won't live up to my name if I don't go after her and ruin her business!"
I was stunned. I had only ever heard Aaron speak with this tone before. How was it that I was not aware of such a powerful man in Jarold City?
When I glanced at Milleon again, I felt a sudden regret of meeting him so late. We should have been friends sooner!
After all, the most important thing in life was comfort and things that were pleasing to the eyes. Although Milleon did not leave a good impression on others, he held a grudge against Serene, which made him an ally.
"Okay, I understand. Don't worry, Mr. Koch. We have accepted this lawsuit. You can rest assured that we will arrange the best lawyer for you. If worse comes to worst, I, the boss, will do it!" I said generously.
"Really?" Milleon gushed while staring at me in disbelief and then lowered his head. His sly, foxlike eyes darted across the room as he murmured, "It seems that the magazine was right...”
He said it in a very soft voice, but I heard it. I asked shamelessly, "What about the magazine?"
Milleon was shocked for a moment, then he regained his senses. He put his glasses back on and replied with a smile, "It was written that there was inner turmoil between the Reid family and the Forbes family, and if one wished to get back at the Forbes family, they should look for the Reid family. Now, it seems that it was true. I've been on this lawsuit for more than a month. As long as anyone wins this for me and ruins the Forbes family's reputation, money is not a problem at all. So far, only you dare to accept my case."
His explanation was probably about the issue of Aaron making a huge fuss in order to deal with Matt. Although it was not trending anymore, some media companies still relied on this news to sustain their salaries, and so they kept reporting it.
The person who planned this was probably trying to use the Reid family to deal with the Forbes family without getting into trouble. However, Milleon faced me and told the truth. He was a man with a one-track mind, so he wasn't very shrewd.
It was best to exert control over such a person.
I beamed and assured him in a polite demeanor. "Both families did have some misunderstandings, but it wasn't a big deal. We're doing business in Jarold City, so we'll come across each other inevitably. There's no reason for us to stay away from each other all the time. However, Mr. Koch, I clearly heard that as long as the lawsuit is a success, the price can be negotiated. Is this true?"
In the business industry, everyone cared too much about their standing, especially those from prominent families. Even if they were incompatible with one another, they would not leak it publicly, so as to save each other's honor. After all, as long as the earth was round, there were no eternal enemies. Everyone had to have an escape route.
All the insiders did not accept Milleon's offer, but I welcomed it. The meaning behind this was naturally self-evident.
Although Milleon was simple- minded, he could recognize my hint. He chuckled for a while and made a promise graciously. "Don't worry. I've checked it out. If we win the lawsuit, Serene Forbes would have to fish out a hundred million dollars the very least. I don't mind if all of it goes to you too, I just want to have a good time in this. Money is less important, dignity comes first!"
