In the living room.
Aaron and the little girl sat on the sofa opposite from me. On the table was the paper folder he'd brought.
Before entering the house, he said a single sentence, "I want to take you with me."
He seemed to be in a hurry. As soon as the servant served the tea, he broke the silence. "The Reid family and Moore family have never given up looking for you in all these years. In order to take care of the children, and to save money, we emigrated. We even transferred all our companies; but turns out it was all in vain, as it wasn't until today that I got to see you again."
He said this with a note of sadness in his voice. However, he was an adult after all. With the child around, he could only take deep breaths to calm himself down. He then looked down at the paper folder. His fingers tapped on it several times.
"I know you don't remember anything. That's all right. I'm here for you. There's nothing for you to worry about. In this file is your DNA test report with Aurelia as well as the Reid Group's equity transfer agreement. Once you return home, you'll be the second largest shareholder of the Reid Group. All you have to do is live happily for the rest of your life. Leave the rest to me."
Before I could react, Aaron heaved a sigh of relief. He then turned his head and took the little girl's hand. He brought the girl to me and said joyfully, "Aurelia, don't you wanna say hi to your mommy?"
Aurelia pursed her lips as she looked at me with uncertainty in her eyes. She then turned to look at Aaron. After getting his reassurance, she greeted me sweetly, "Hi mommy!"
It was Aurelia's first time meeting me. She was much more cautious, yet more daring, compared to Wynn when he'd first met me. She ran over to me and wrapped her arms around my neck as she cried, "Mommy, I've missed you so much!"
She sounded so sincere that my heart ached. I couldn't bear to push her away.
What a strange feeling.
