Aurelia's heart ached as she saw this. Her large eyes flickered as tears welled up in her eyes.
Aaron picked her up and softly comforted her. After placing her head on his shoulder, he looked at Hendrix with disgust. "In the six years I've raised her, I can count on one hand the number of times she's been upset, now she's upset because of you. Are you happy?"
After that, Aaron turned towards me, "Let's go."
Hendrix's subordinates were no match for him. So I had to go with him.
Aaron's car was parked outside the villa. As soon as we got in the car, he started the engine and drove towards the suburbs. He wasn't going to wait around any longer.
"Where are you taking me?" I asked.
Aaron looked at me from the rearview mirror and answered flatly, "The airport. I've arranged for a plane. It'll arrive soon."
Judging from his tone, he sounded upset. I wasn't sure if it was because he was jealous of how close Aurelia and Hendrix got in such a short time, or if he had other concerns.
When the car turned a corner, I saw a car with a Roberts' family license plate coming from the opposite direction. I recognized it immediately. It was the car that was used to pick up Wynn. I wound down the window. The moment we passed each other, I saw his face.
Jennifer and Serene were in the car with him.
The distance between us was growing larger, just like the sense of loss I was feeling. Although we haven't spent a lot of time together, we were bonded. If I left without saying goodbye, imagine how sad he would be.
Noticing that I was feeling down, Aurelia leaned on me and whimpered like a baby.
My heart softened. I couldn't help but hold her tighter.
