I was surprised to see Andrea's face turned pale when she sighted me. She pulled on Austin's shirt and said, "Austin, dinner is served. Let's go!"
However, Austin took her hand and said gently, "Wait a moment!"
He then turned to me and said, "Miss Reid is such a strong-minded woman. You can still dine with another man despite the commotion. Looks like Hendrix was overly-concerned about you."
I frowned, suppressing my anger. "It seems that you have the habit of talking before you think."
He sneered, "Did that hit a nerve? Hendrix had been very lenient with you. He tortured himself with alcohol whenever you're upset, and he was worried sick when you had a miscarriage. He's such a proud person, but he was willing to undergo a vasectomy for you. But, here you are dining with another man just a few days after the incident. Do you know how humiliating this would be for him if this was out in the news?"
His expression was cold as ice. "Arianna, can you be more sympathetic? Hendrix is your husband, not a stranger."
I was dumbstruck, and it took me quite a while to react. I looked at him and asked, "What did you say?"
He sneered, and his eyes were full of disdain. "Do you know what a vasectomy means to a man? He disowned his own children for the sake of you and your friend's child. Don't you think that's funny?"
My mind went totally blank for a few seconds. I looked at him, and my voice was a little hoarse. "Why?"
His gaze was indifferent and replied sarcastically. "Because he was afraid that you will suffer, he was afraid that you would experience the fear of giving birth again, afraid that you think he will not accept Anne as his own child. He is considerate of your feelings all the time. On the contrary, what have you done for him?"
I pursed my lips and didn't know what to say. I felt extremely uncomfortable inside.
Andrea couldn't help sneering upon hearing Austin's words. She said in a sad and mournful voice, "How ridiculous."
Then, Austin turned around and saw her pale face. He said, "Andrea!"
Andrea looked up at him with sorrowful eyes and tears rolling down her cheeks. "Do you know that I always thought that he would always protect me from the day I met him, silly me!"
Perhaps because Austin didn't want me to see Andrea's sorrowful condition because he held her up and gave me a meaningful look before he left the private room with Andrea.
Aaron saw Austin and Andrea leaving the private room as he returned with a large box of lobsters in his hand.
