Andrea was already done for. She sat paralyzed on the floor, unable to make a single movement.

Evan came with the police. Though there were no surveillance cameras in the villa, Andrea was holding a knife in her hand. If she was reported under the pretense of attempted robbery, with Hendrix's capability, she would definitely be facing jail time.

My first instinct wasn't to take it. I just absentmindedly stared at the box filled with delicate desserts.

He caressed my hand, and said in a low voice, "You can scold me, but you can't stay quiet."

His hand was warm, or perhaps mine was too cold.

Looking at him, I said with a hoarse voice, "She did not try to rob nor break into the house. I was the one who brought her there."

He started the car, put the dessert in my hand, and nodded, "I know."
