Sven had a foul expression on his face as he left the alleyway. He did not see how the look in the girl’s eyes went from being hopeful to hopeless. The same could be said for the look in Sven’s eyes because he felt like he had lost all hope.
He became a decorated firefighter after retiring from the military. However, his parents later lost their lives in a huge fire.
The empress then took that opportunity to strip his family of everything—money, honor, and even his sister.
By the time Sven got to see his sister again, she had turned into a corpse.
It turned out his heart had died a long while ago. In the past, he still had some hope in him because of his sister, but now…
He wanted revenge, but the other party was too strong. An ordinary person like him could not get rid of them. No, he could not do it…
Sven stopped in his tracks.
He felt an uneasiness within him. An intense feeling that he should have forgotten made its way into his heart.
“No, don’t, please. Just let it be. Please let me be an ordinary person and forget everything,” Sven said as he placed a hand on his chest, feeling the thump of his heart. He should have gotten used to this long ago. Yet, he could not get used to it.
Sven’s heart began racing, and he felt euphoric.
“I… I want it!” Sven turned and dashed toward the hooligans.
He began fighting them.
After all, he used to be in the military.
That meant the hooligans were no match for him and were easily overpowered by Sven.
“Gosh, you’re a busybody, aren’t you?” one of the hooligans asked. He gritted his teeth together as he retrieved a gun from his belt. The other hooligans soon followed suit.
The hooligans fired several shots in quick succession.
Sven collapsed to the ground, a pool of blood forming around him.
“Haha, alright, darling. No one’s going to bother us now. Let’s enjoy ourselves…”
