Janina forced herself to stay calm. She looked at the doctor and asked, "Is my mother outside?"
The doctor didn't stop what he was doing. While preparing the surgical tools, he replied, "Don't worry, your parents are waiting right outside the operating room. They've already prepared everything for the baby."
Janina was stunned into silence.
She had deliberately asked about her mother to test him, and he had answered without hesitation that her mother was there.
Janina glanced at her phone. It was 3:30 PM. Her mother had called her just before two o'clock, and at that time, her parents were still in the countryside.
Even if they had rushed back immediately, there was no way they could have gotten to the hospital this quickly.
Yet the doctor claimed both her parents were right outside.
Furthermore, a C-section required her signature on a consent form, but since she'd been brought in, no one had asked her to sign anything.
She was certain something was wrong with this doctor.
She took out the phone from her pocket and quietly sent a message to her friends' group chat.
[Call the police. Someone is trying to harm me.]
She also sent her West's phone number and then her current location.
Thank goodness she had kept her phone on her, just in case of an emergency. She couldn't make a call in the operating room, but she could send a text.
She trusted that her friends would see the message, contact her brother, and find a way to rescue her.
The doctor was still busy with pre-op preparations and hadn't noticed her actions.
After sending the message, Janina's anxiety grew. If she waited for the police to arrive, it might be too late.
